Just wouldn't throw the ball. Whats happened to our "build from the back" style of play from earlier in the season?. Kicking the ball long to a player, playing on his own up front, just doesn't work.
Not sure I'd have passed to Wiseman or McEverley today. And you can hardly blame Luke for wanting to punt it up to Davies who only takes one, two, three, four touches to get it under control ... Oh hang on he's lost it....
Not true There were loads of occasions when a bit of quick thinking and releasing the ball early would have got us away on the counter attack. Hanging onto the ball until everyone is in position will obviously allow the opposition to get tight on the full backs.
I'm also uncomfortable with the fact that I agree with hemsworth. The throw often wasn't on, and he did throw it to Wiseman a few times. Lets face it, who would throw it out to McEveley? Steele won us a point today with 2 fantastic 2nd half saves, he can irritate me as much as he wants as long as he's doing that.
Re: Not true It may be that we were hoping for a draw and getting the ball away quickly on the counter attack would therefore not serve us well, since we might have scored against Forest, who are a lot better than their position shows, I mean everyone else has struggled to beat them this year, they are one of the highest paid teams and therefore that means we should only try and draw.
Re: Not true In the second half until we scored, Forest showed the best defence of a lead I've seen this season but they only attacked rarely. You can't counter attack against a team that wasn't attacking.
Re: Not true They didnt have to attack did they , we were the home team, not that you would have known it by the formation and personel out on the pitch. 1 point from 2 games against teams in the bottom 3 does not make a good team or manager. I struggle to see why playing a left back in midfield and keeping a natural wideman on the bench is anything other that daft!!! Especially when the player at leftback is JayMac , that just baffles me even more.
Re: Not true They didn't have to attack, they were defending a 1-0 lead. If there are nine bodies between you and the goal you huff and puff or have a moment of true class like Davies strike
Re: Not true Correct, which is why I said they didnt have to attack! Anyway I am saying nothing else about anything else tonight.
I did notice a couple of occasions today, 1 in either half, where I thought he could have thrown it for a counter. Wouldn't say it was enough to irritate though, easily forgotten given the rest of his performance (except the spoof kick that went for a corner, but he was put under pressure). My worry is that the whole side don't look like they are looking to play like that any more. We do everything slowly these days, too many touches, passes delayed.
