Just got to say - class act.

Does nothing extravagant, but does the basics excellently and shoud've played more of a part than he has. Credit to him and the lads for getting the clean sheet yesterday, and I hope he stays with us in the summer. His kicking could be improved, but he's better than Muller (who I believe has gotten too big for his boots).

Roll on Coventry - lets get behind the lads!!!

    Better than Muller at what?

Kicking, probably yes. All round goalm keeping? I don't believe so.

He did nothing out of the ordinary yesterday...

    All round goalkeeping?

Last season, I would have to agree with you.

This season, I really don't. Some of Mullers decision making and general ineptitude at doing the basics, has been awful. Not just against Swansea, but in a whole heap of matches. Don't get me wrong, I think Muller is a good keeper to have in the squad, but I think Steele is a better keeper. He didn't do anything out of the ordinary yesterday, but he did keep a clean sheet against a useful team and I thought he did well. The fact of the matter is, he deserved his chance after some of Mullers debacles and I think he's taken it.

I'd like him to be offered a new contract

Don't think he will though or if he is don't think he'll accept it

He probably did deserve a chance..

but I think in the long run Muller willm prove to be better. Just needs to recover his form. I still think "I won that battle'" has a lot to do with it.

"Did nothing out of the ordinary yesterday"?? Disagree

He made two great saves, one right in front of us in the first half and another terrific save late on in 2nd half. You dismiss his contribution too easily.

Think Muller is the better keeper (best we've had for years) but lost confidence over recent games, it's good to have such a good keeper as Steele that can step in.

RE: Better than Muller at what?

Steele is better at keeping the ball out of the net. Isn't that what it is about? Muller is overrated, largely because of his size and because he is foreign. You would expect a keeper of his size to be better at some things than Steele but as a last line of defence there is nothing between them. Muller looked really good when he first came but has been poor this season. Steele IMO has not put a foot wrong for Barnsley. He should be the no1 this time until he deserves to be dropped, because he didn't deserve it last time.

Well said Poet, if Steel would have been in the sticks a month earlier i think we would have been safe now. while saying that i think muller is a top class keeper but going through a bad patch right now and davey should have seen this and made changes.

Unfortunately though Steele isn't prepared to stay as back-up - that's our main problem.

Totally agree though that Muller is the best of the pair, but due to a complete lack of form on his part he did deserve to lose his place. And as other people have said, Luke did nothing wrong to get dropped in the first place, but tbh I would have done the same because an on-form Muller is, in my opinion, possibly the best keeper under the Premier League.

Just done some quick calcs. If stats mean anything then Steele is the better keeper. Difficult to say but they are playing behind the same team. Quite a bit of difference too.

    Muller

    Last season - 50 in 35.
    This season - 50 in 37.

    Steele

    Last season - 15 in 17 (so 30 in 34).
    This season - 10 in 9 (40 in 36).
