    Unused sub again tonight.
Worthwhile career move or a foreign graveyard for one who felt he was a tad better then everyone else thought.
Back over here next season at Grimsby?
    Pile in...

Or why not wish him good luck for having the balls to try his luck in a foreign country. Fecking Rooney wouldn't do it.

He's better than Davies, and don't say Turnbull, you haven't seen him play.

Davies played really well on Saturday, actually caught balls from crosses and his kicking was spot on.

First time I've seen him and, to be fair, I thought he looked OK for a young and inexperienced keeper. I also thought Steele was OK.

Wasn't Steele an unused sub for most of his early time at Oakwell as well, when Muller was number 1? He'll have to work hard for his place and then again to keep it, just like he did for us. I hope he succeeds.

On Saturdays showing didn't see any difference between Davies and Steele, just that said kicking looked better.

Steele is a good keeper and good bloke.

That said, I'm happy with the signing of Turnbull, when he eventually gets a start !!!

The lad looks to be growing in confidence and improving game by game IMO.

Luke Steele was a Great Servant to Barnsley Football Club and I sincerely hope he has a successful time in Greek Football.
I'm sure his opportunity will come.

an update, panathinaikos qualified for europa leaugue group stage..we are going to play against eindhoven, dinamo moscow and estoril..normally this would be a good draw for us,but the last 2-3 years the team has declined,3rd place is a realistic guess..we were disqualified by standar liegue for the ch.leaugue qualification round ( most unlucky match ever,we hit the woodwork 3 times and missed many good chances)..

steele has only been used for 90 minutes in a friendly match with a second division team...the guy who plays at his spot is a 35 year old, with very slow reactions (cost us one goal against standar)..the fans here wonder how worse can steele be..the thing is the coach is very focused on offense and obviously if your keeper starts your offense dadly he doesn't like that..but i recall steele talking as if he was promised to play,i imagine he can be frustrated by now..surely the coach knew his bad kicking when he signed him..anyway,let's see if he is used more, but doesn't seem like it for now..

PAO fan thanks for update. We are always interested to know how Luke Steele progresses.

The one aspect of his game that really needs improving was his KICKING, so I cannot understand why your Coach / Scouts did not see this when they watched him.

    Anyway, wish you good luck.

I find it sad that a player who served the club well for six years and, by all accounts, is a thoroughly decent bloke off the park is subjected to such snidey, sneering derision. Just as bad is the same derogatory, point scoring diatribes being directed at our young, inexperienced goalkeeper (played the grand total of FIVE league games).
My take, for what it's worth, is Luke was an excellent goalkeeper for us. He wasn't perfect, but I've never, ever seen a faultless player at Oakwell. I thank him and wish him well with his career. Likewise, young Davies looks a decent prospect. But for someone so inexperienced, he can only have potential at this stage and again, to persistently find & pick faults in his game is difficult to comprehend or jusitfy.
