CHAMPIONSHIP rivals Luton Town are the latest club to be linked with Reds winger Chris Shuker as the former Manchester City star makes his mind up whether to sign a new deal at Oakwell.

Chris' current contract with the Reds expires at the end of the month although manager Andy Ritchie remains hopeful something can be sorted out.

    Today's ClubCall reads:

Luton Town are hoping to discuss a free transfer move for Barnsley winger Chris Shuker, but they are waiting to see if he will accept a new Tykes contract.

The former Manchester City ace has prove a vital member of the Barnsley side, and energetic displays helped the Yorkshire side to be promoted to the Championship.

Shuker is currently out of contract at Oakwell, and Barnsley boss Andy Ritchie is hoping for a quick resolution regarding whether the player will sign the new deal he has been offered.

If the 24-year-old decides to move on, it is thought Hatters boss Mike Newell will follow up his interest by offering the player a deal at Kenilworth Road.

Was he ever a "star" with Manchester City?

Once again the hound our players out brigade are out again.

At the the end of the day he's a good winger who scores goals. We can't afford to replace him with a player of greater quality so give it a rest.

He said last year when deciding whether to sign a new contract he read what was said about him on here.

What is it with so called Barnsley fans wanting to have a go at certain players, try getting behind them for a change instead of the first time he fails to beat his man slaughter them. It's not good for confinence at all.

    that's not good

if he actually said that he reads and takes notice of what is written here then that's not good. very few barnsley fans post here and so he will get an unrealistic view of opinions about him.

errr....how am I "hounding out our players"

I like Shukar, didn't when he first joined but he won me over, and I'd like him to stay.

All I said was I don't think he was "a star" when he was at Man City!

    Good.

Chris - the guys you should be aiming your crosses for are usually waiting a few yards further into the penalty box than the guy whose ankles you tend to hit them at. You know? The guy in the shirt a different colour to yours? If you are staying, it'd be great if you could take this into account.

    Thanks.

    I've got a good idea

    Chris,

Why not print off the instructions from Gaz on how to cross a ball and then ask a friend (or family member) to write them clearly on the space between your hairline and your eyebrows. You'll need to write them backwards so that you can wear a mirror strapped to your head and read them as you make your way down the wing ?

    Chin up slaphead

Why is Shuks taking so long right up to the last day i think, but i hope not that he will go or like the others will sign a 1 year deal and not the two year one.

shukkers is a good player - has worked very hard for this team - even when things havent gone right for him ie walsall away - the kid doesnt hide - we need to be positive about the players as surely that encourages players to want to stay at the club - constructive criticsism people should have no problem with that - just knockings for knockings sake is for T****ers - dont forhet the lads who popped the penalties away at cardiff have all been battered on here at one stage or another
