M1 Shut Junc 38 / 39 anyone know why ?

    It appears that the M1 is shut both ways between Junc 38 & Junc 39 and according to Traffic England is expected to be shut until 8pm. Anyone any idea whats going on ?

    at work at the mo, and can't have radio's but we do have internet. so will take the net over radio anyday.

    Was initially just shut one way. Was on Radio 2 Bulletin.

    Just been out to look.

    Northbound between 37 and 38 is very slow. Must be everyone getting off at 38.</p>

    Southbound between 37 and 38 is normal.</p>

    just finished work at ossett and theres loads of coppers just standing about around wooley edge turn off (north bound)

    Just got back

    To Sheff from Ossett. I was lucky as I'd heard about the closure. Wakefield rammed. I came back via Horbury/ Netherton/ Bretton and onto M1 at 38. Safe to say Northbound was jammed back to J37, all had to get off at 38 & most going thru Bretton. Not sure if it's cleared yet - I went thru about 3.30pm. If they're still sending them off at 38 now, I'd avoid Wakefield as it takes nothing to jam that place up.

    Woman dead

    According to a mate of mine. Northbound near Wooley Edge. She was on hard shoulder when he passed. Only other vehicle he saw nearby was a lorry. Driver sat on barrier. Not sure whether he was involved or not.</p>

    Poor lass. Terrible news for somebody tonight.</p>
