anyone else have the privelege of being stuck in this traffic (or related traffic) for 3+ hours this morning? lorry went straight through the central reservation, ouch. apparently someone jumped off a bridge as well which didn't help.
I avoid it like the plague for the reasons stated. My office is over near Manchester and I always go via the back roads to Holmfirth then over the tops. I hardly ever get held up.
Two killed in the van that the lorry hit ..... ..... according to teletext, so might just be worth considering them and their families before you moan about a traffic jam
Took me 2 hours to get from Ardsley to Junction 41 at Wakefield Chuffing terrible it was, people using opposite sides of the road to drive down and lot.
it was yeah, was about 2 collisons just because of people getting frustrated and trying to overtake or turn round, tits. as for the 2 people in the van, has it actually been confirmed? how did that bloody lorry just topple over??
Aye, it happens all the time. Lorry's just tipple over for no reason. How many times are lorrys involved in accidents? In all the years I've been driving around the country doing my job I reckon 85% of the time I have lost to accidents resulting from poor and dangerous driving has been down to a lorry.
Would be interesting to see statistics for deaths involving lorries Especially on motorways. I think its about time we got them off the roads and back onto the railways, no congestion, no danger, no problem
RE: Would be interesting to see statistics for deaths involving lorries I wholeheartedly agree, it's a pity that since Beeching onwards we've knacked the infrastructure and capacity is now the issue. I'm sure the Woodhead line would be a viable proposition these days for freight, and even possibly a light rail link direct to Manchester from Barnsley. Pity that short sighted feckwitts pulled it up and knocked the bridges down.
RE: where do you work bradford? nt i can't say i enjoy bombing past massive lorries with both of us travelling at 60+ mph. i work at buttershaw (just off the M606, which was chocker too) confirmed 2 dead, look at the van they were in... chuffin hell. RE: Would be interesting to see statistics for deaths involving lorries agree 100% ... and it's not often I can say I agree with you sir
RE: Do you commute from Barnsley every day yeah and its a pain in the arse. 50 quid of a petrol a week and countless jams, just thankful i have a job though
Only in this country Would they spend 12 hours navel gazing and creating work for self-important and self-appointed over-staffed crash investigation teams and traffic police to turn a drama into a full blown scene from Die Hard. People died, and that is a tragedy don't get me wrong, but did the Police really find anything out that they didn't already know from interviewing witnesses and taking a few photos? All day to remove a few cars from the carrageway? I bet if I parked a couple of scrap cars across the carrageway in protest of 'X' they would have me shifted in 30 mins max. Go to any other country and its "shunt everything out of the way and get traffic moving", oh no, not in Britain, FFS.
RE: Only in this country ''crash investigation teams and traffic police to turn a drama into a full blown scene from Die Hard'' Sarcasm at its best
To be fair mate If you were one of the bereaved wouldn't you want to knwo what had happened and if someone was at fault they be brought to justice, which generally is the reason roads are closed in these circumstances.
