He should have said I knew they had a young side i thought the best tactic in the 2nd half would be to bully and intimidate them.

Oh he gave us praise, but to say they had to match our aggression. All I can say is I’m glad they only matched it and not surpassed it

He's managed Millwall, Sunderland, Ipswich and the ROI and I haven't seen any of his teams get it down and play. He's another Warnock. He old man's opposition with his tactics. I won't knock him because of our naivety.

Out naivety is frustrating at times, but he is so wide of the mark with that comment. I’ve never seen a McCarthy team committ as much shithousery as they did tonight

    Is he wrong though?

I thought we'd turned the corner against sides like this but we got sucked in and crumbled. Thankfully we got it together enough to hold it to 2-2 and could have stolen it, where as in the past we'd have lost the game.

He is wrong about the aggression part, our commitment and competitiveness should not not even begin to be compared with the aggression and tactics they employed tonight

Did he mean aggression as in running and closing down ?

I would class that as commitment and dedication, aggression is exactly that as far as I’m concerned

I'm sorry but he isn't wrong at all. We failed to compete at times in that second half, got drawn in to their tactics, and basically got overpowered. Thankfully we have matured enough that we battled for a point, so no faulting the players there, but Mick is on the money with that assessment.

How many times do managers talk about their team in a positive way about how aggressive they were? Every single Saturday.

Did you fall out with Flicker when he said it every third word?

That’s exactly the point I’ve been making all night . We not learning when teams use obtuse tactics which hadn’t been rare last two seasons .
At least we held out tonight for a change hopefully this is the turning point on these tactics .

so aggression is elbowing in head, barging players off the ball, kneeing in kidneys, studs down back of legs

If Mick watched the Norwich game he'd have seen that we were in their faces from start to finish so hopefully he meant that Cardiff needed to match that.

Well I’m sorry, he’s absolutely wrong to say they had to match our aggression. We had no aggression, we had commitment, dedication, hard work, but lacked aggression. Probably good job given that we had the only yellow card of the night, had we committed half the stuff they did we would’ve probably seen 1 or 2 red cards. They knew they had the ref in their pocket and didn’t they take advantage of that.

Aggression, in football, is often used to describe being on the front foot, being brave in possession, being brave out of possession, positive decision making - plus the commitment and desire aspect.

To suggest Mick was meaning dirty as in fouls is just incorrect. But that's not to say that they weren't a dirty team either and the referee let them get away with far too much.
