Anyone think it might be worth a pop?

As an out and out striker, I think Jonny's day's are numbered. He's not going to get 15-20 goals a season anymore, but I still think he can do a very, very decent job for us. He can still chip in with the odd goal, including some very astute finishes both inside and outside of the box. Burnley this season, and Bristol City away, last season spring to mind. However, I do think (as does everyone else) that we need 1 if not 2 proven strikers, who can come in and score some goals for us.

However, Macken still shows glimpses of class. His touch is usually immaculate on the deck, and his passing is usually very good. He of course, doesn't have much pace, but he never really has had much anyway. I think, if we bring in a good striker (or two...) then it might be worth slotting Macken, just behind the two of them. Allowing the likes of JCR/Anderson/Colace to do the hard work and the running the blood to water thing, and letting Macken find some space, to pick out a few killer balls and a few shots on goal.

I might be way off mark here, and If I am, so be it. But I personally think it would be worth a go. He's still excellent for this league, in some capacity, even if it's not out and out goalscoring. He can still pitch in with the odd goal whilst also offering some steadiness on the ball, just behind the front too and hopefully a bit of imagination going forward.

He didn't sign for Manchester City, for £5 million because he was rubbish. He, over the years, has been a class act. His brain is still ticking along, and he knows what's required on the football pitch, even if the legs just aren't up to the task they were 5 years ago. At times, many, myself included, have accused him of laziness, which is probably fair in some chunks, but not in others. Like I said, he's been running about all his life chasing footballs, and he quite simply, won't have the stamina that the likes of JCR and Anderson have. However, like I also pointed out, his presence on the field will be beneficial to us, and I believe he might play 'the hole' position fairly well.

Two good strikers up front, and an astute, professional who will still be able to notch a few just behind them?...Of course, I'm presuming we're going to sign some striker(s).

Anyone else think it might be worth a crack?

    Fair point.

He's just not doing anything worthwhile at the moment. Give him a chance, and I reckon he'll stick it away, but the chances falling to him within the box are just few and far between.
