Just seen on German teletext, a Dutch newpaper has received an anonymous letter saying Madeleine is dead and where the body can be found. Nothing on BBC yet. If this guy's a crank I'd like to get my hands on him. Hope to God it's a sick prank.
I read something about this in one of yesterday's papers (may have been the Sun) and they seemed to intimate that this person was a medium who had helped police in finding two murdered Belgian girls a couple of years ago.
RE: The idea that someone would actually do that as a prank ... There was a false story on the radio in Liverpool a couple of weeks back that they'd found her safe and well. Who would do that?

ON SKY NEWS NOW Portuguese police have started investigating an area just nine miles from where Madeleine McCann was abducted after a tip off from a Dutch source. An anonymous letter claiming the four-year-old lies buried under rocks in deserted scrubland was sent to newspaper De Telegraaf and passed on to the Portuguese Policia Judiciaria.
