BARNSLEY FOOTBALL CLUB STATEMENT BARNSLEY Football Club are disappointed with a statement released yesterday by the Supporters Trust in which they urge Reds supporters to boycott our forthcoming clash with Leicester City (December 16, 2006). Leicester City Football Club will be running a special ticket discount for home supporters at this game, which they are perfectly entitled to under Football League regulations. Football League regulation 31.2.11 reads: Discounts or special promotions (in each case for one match only) made available to supporters of the Home Club must also be made available on a similar basis to visiting supporters provided always that each Club shall be permitted to designate four (4) matches per season as 'local promotion' matches where this Regulation shall be deemed not to apply. Barnsley Football Club would urge all fans to travel to Leicester City and show their backing for Simon Davey and his team at the Walkers' Stadium next week.
One point in Leicesters defence.. We won't be charging their fans £10 to come to Oakwell. Maybe if we did their stance would change!! Maybe we could fill Oakwell if offered to home fans as well...
When we've made it kids for a quid etc Has that offer been extended to away fans? Personally I don't see what all the fuss is over this, it's not as if they are putting prices up for Barnsley fans, we are being asked to pay the same as every other away fan this season, they are giving an offer to their own fans as they are entitled to do.
RE: When we've made it kids for a quid etc Yes, but they have to get the tickets from the box office before the game I’ve seen away fans in there before sorting them out.
RE: When we've made it kids for a quid etc Yes if tickets bought in advance, same as for Barnsley supporters At the end of the day, it is up to Supporters to choose what to do, some will go, others will not, and as you rightly say they have broken no rules...but is it a fair rule, I would say not Surely it is for the Supportes to push for the FL to change the rules to a fairer system, as it used to be before Sheffield United got the rules changed
RE: Myabe We Should Only Give Them 1,000 Tickets To See How They Like It. We can't afford to just give them 1000 tickets. End of day they are rewarding fans over the christmas period and also trying to attract fans into the club who normally wouldn't go..... As for not extending that to away fans, they don't have to. I will be there, 5 adult tickets bought on Wednesday.
