I mean, come on, we let Brian Howard go for £500,000. A player that had scored 14 goals from midfield and got God knows how many assists. For all the hard work and endeavour and mazy runs that JCR goes on, his end product is nowhere near as good as Howards. Again, let's just wait and see.
That's great... Peanuts! But, profit none the less. Why couldn't I look at it like that! Think of all the great players we'll be able to bring in with that profit...
The long term future of the club is more important than the sale of a player. We can't expect Sir Patrick to bankroll us forever. We need to be looking to buy players with the profit made through sales and stop asking Patrick to keep having to put his hand into his pocket and own personal fortune all the time.
Its not the money its what we are left with in terms of playing staff....... its ok taking in rakes of money if you've got cover for the player leaving, we have'nt, and the situation begs the question is Davey savvy enough to spend the money on replacements quickly enough to avoid a slump in results we are after all half way through the transfer window.
It's only a profit because he was a steal when he was bought though. The good bit of business was buying him. Selling him might not be so. He's put in some excellent performances this season and is also a crowd pleaser. Be a shame to lose him because there's not many better at what he does in this division.
RE: Are we really in that much of the ****? I don't think we are in the **** fella. My point is i'd like us as a club to become self suficent again and not have to rely on handouts from Patrick when Davey wants to add to his squad.

Come on....Howard !!!500 grandnow or for nothing in the Summer ???
10 outa 10 to Davey for getting JCR to sign a 3 year contract or he'd have walked for free in the Summer as well....
Its not hard to work out is it !!!

Davey - "it's a big temptation" Only last week he was lamenting that the midfield had been decimated by injury. Now he's tempted to sell one of our few remaining fit midfielders.
Lots of injuries and 6 points above the drop zone. Any player we bring in now as a replacement will cost us a premium, so in actual fact how much real profit will we make ...?
Then there's the unthinkable of dropping down a division. I don't think we are in a safe enough position in the league to contemplate selling the family silver.
