Where we'd be in this division, if we'd played 4-4-2 from the off.

It certainly does. Top six I'd wager.

10 th 5 points off play-offs , now if we'd had Hammill from day one ( in the right frame of mind) that's another story

So old fashion and out dated though ! All the yoof know that you have to have 4 defenders, 2 defensive midfielders, three midfilders that can track back and a solo striker to chase the opponents back 4 around !
Thats the future !!!! And its looking dreary !

I believe that the success of any formation, tactics etc depends on the players available and whether they fit into the system. IMO we were playing a system that did not suit the players we had, hence the results. Then we got Adam Hammill.

If I hear that a CM can't play in a central midfield two then he shouldn't be a professional footballer. Not that I believed for a second that Hourihane couldn't.

    Completely agree.

Winnall can't play as a lone striker, it was obvious to most of us.

What he should've done to deal with the lack of wingers was push Bree into the right wing role with Wabara behind him
