"acquired them".... in what format ?

    vhs?
If so then you'll need to record them first to your pc hard drive. Nero will capture it on to hard drive....but only if you have a tv/video capture card on your pc, ie summat you can plug your vhs into, eg a standard tv coaxial socket in the back of your pc.
Assuming you can do this (if not then you've got problems) then once you've captured it on to hard drive you can use Nero to convert it to dvd files and then on to dvd disc.
I use NeroVision Express to make my dvds.
So what you need, I think, is....
    1. to couple up your vhs (if thats what it is) to ...
    2. a tv/video capture card on your pc by means of a normal aerial cable.
    3. some software, eg nero, to capture the input to hard drive.
    4. then some software, eg nero, to convert the analogue video to dvd files.
    5. software, eg nerovision express, to make your dvds.
Piece of piss if you've got all that.....a f.uckin twittin clat around if you haven't !!
    Good luck.

OK bit late on this one

My PC broke down yesterday and have only just got it running.  If you're still interested in doing this, I can help.

    Download Media Player Classic. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_players/media_player_classic.cfm
Open the MPEG files and go into File Menu and do Properties.  Under details it will tell you the resolution.

Let me know what the resolution is and I'll help you put them on DVD.

Note - you can find resolution in Windows Media Player but it often reports it wrongly so please do get MPC for this.

you need to download a program called vso dvix to dvd. you should find it on download.com. it's really simple to use. first open it you just get one box, click on the file symbol locate the file you want to convert double click it and it loads it's self then click the convert button thats it. when it's finnished you end up with a TS video file which you burn straight onto the dvd.one thing the default standard is ntsc so just change that to pal and change the aspect to whatever is best for your tv.
