Bought him a pint last night and informed him that me and my brother sponsored his socks for a few seasons some years ago. Top bloke and one of the best tacklers I've seen at Oakwell.

Never Forget His Wind Assisted Goal Against Sunderland At The Away End

Still to this day one of the best goals i've ever seen us score.

Can't recall that one, my memories of him consist of him taking the ball and the man with just about every tackle he made, and the fact that he was always the first player to clap the fans after every game, home and away. He's now a car salesman.

I can remember going to the Lane for a cup match and we scored early on from a corner, right in front of us, Big Mal ended up swinging on the nets with the biggest smile on his face. Really up for it.

    I think it finished 2-2, replay at t'well 0-0, 2nd replay 0-1.

    Those were the days.

    He was hard alright

That's the game where he allegedly smacked John Deehan on the coach on the way home - never played again after that until he returned as coach and finished up playing a few games due to an injury crisis, one of which was the hurricane assisted goal against Sunderland with the East stand waving about in the wind.
