Didnt he win the Championship with Cardiff a couple of years back? And he's not good enough for us, a mid table league one side? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Decent manager - but I hardly think the reputation this club (and most of the rest of Yorkshire in fairness) has with any fan, journalist, anyone south of Nottingham for being stuck in the seventies and bigoted would be assisted by having a bloke with a history of casual racism. We are a nicely ran club, with good community links and family ties. No thanks.
Wether or not you take into account the casual rscism you've still missed yhe glaring point. Hes not very good with oit cash behind him
Hammill's actions were completely deplorable. They weren't fuelled by a fundamental hatred or sense of superiority over any faction of society though. They were fuelled by too much ale, immaturity, and probably downright arrogance. As such it can be a big lesson - it certainly knocked him down a peg or two, he can be fully apologetic and be genuine with it. I believe he is. He still has a bit of arrogance on the pitch, nothing wrong with that, but now he's plying his trade in the third division and what was probably the last chance saloon, I would like to think the big headedness away from the pitch might have receded, and he'll have also matured, that seems apparent. A racist can apologise and say what they like about how sorry they are - but it doesn't change how they actually think. His actions were those of an older, experienced ex player and coach. A supposedly fully developed man. Somebody who should be more learned. They are a good indicator of the man. Hammill's actions were those of a young arrogant pillock, somebody who clearly had the maturity of a lot of blokes in their late teens to early twenties, only with a barrel full of cash and bigger sense of self importance. In my opinion that incident can be considered a hugely regrettable mistake. He was absolutely smashed, didn't know if it was Tuesday or cabbage, and he lashed out. No part of a sane and sober Adam hammill thinks abusing paramedics or anybody is acceptable I wouldn't think - but mackay remains a foul example of human kind. I'd look to give somebody a chance if they make an error as a young person. I wouldn't want to be defined by any of my mistakes I made as a younger bloke. If I started spouting something vitriolic and prejudiced now, without the excuse of naivety and booze - and I'm in my thirties, not forties - I'd fully expect that to be with me for the rest of my days.
