Every site I visit I get pop ups linked to something called 'positive finds'.

I went through my control panel and deleted a program called positive finds but the popups are still coming up.

Does anyone know how to remove this?

    Thanks

Install or run both of these programmes - just the free versions. Be careful during installation that you don't install anything else. Use the "Custom" or "Advanced" installation if present and uncheck any additional software check boxes. Don't be fooled by the word "Recommended": -

Also, have a look at this: -

The first thing to do when you have a dodgy programme called "xxx" on your computer is to google "How to remove xxx"

And once again, when downloading/installing programmes read what it says on the screen VERY carefully. Many programmes try to fool you into installing dodgy add-ons by presenting the info on screen in a confusing way, using words like "decline" or whatever to get you to install them. That's what you probably did when you installed Positive Finds in the first place. Good luck.

    Download something called Adwcleaner.
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

Click the link above, and then click the big blue button that has Download Now @ BleepingComputer on it.
It should take you through to another page where eventually something will pop up asking if you want to run or save it. You can click to run to run it now or save to save it for later running.

Once downloaded it should run automatically if you have selected run, if not click run.

Agree to the terms. Click scan. Then when its finished click Cleaning. It will probably have to restart the pc after scanning.

Its a pretty powerful little program and finds quite a lot of rubbish that it gets rid of safely.

EDIT. Didn't realise Stahlrost had posted something to do with AdwCleaner as well. But its that good!

Hi guys thanks for your help.

I've completed all steps advised so far are the problem is still there :(

As well as running the programs I've also uninstalled any programs I don't recognise.

I've also reset my Google Chrome and IE.

    Any other advice?

    Problem solved!

Did the above and then also reinstalled google chrome. Probably should have tried that one earlier!

    Thanks again

Good to hear it's been sorted. I've never used Google Chrome so can't really comment fully on that, but most browsers have a function called "Manage Add-Ons" or whatever, hidden in a Tools menu (on IE 11 which I use) or whatever. You should look at it from time to time and it may give you the option to disable or remove certain add-ons if you are suspicious of them.

And once again, read the instructions carefully when installing programmes, and NEVER us the "Recommended" option if there is an "Advanced" or "Custom" option available. Those words are designed to discourage you from using them so the crap has more chance of getting on to your system.
