Hammill - and he was only on the pitch 20 minutes. Doesn't say a lot for the rest. Only Preece out of the 11 that started that would have got close!
He moved more in 5 minutes at the start of the game than Davey moved in 3 years. Very vocal, was very animated in his criticism at times and I think that reflected in his replacement of Thompson so early.
One of my worst fears .... is that some of the players will not respond to Robins. It was almost predictable that, if there were a bit of 'politics' of the type, 'who does this new fella think he is?' that the newer blood would perform best. So - you have Hammill who has just signed for us and the key stage in his career depends on how well he does - he does ok; Hume is frustrated by being sidelined and is raring to go again - he sparks a difference; Preece makes his debut - does ok. I had hoped that Andy Gray would be added to the list of good performers today, but not really mentioned. Robins has it right about defenders jumping to head the ball and 'blood and thunder.' Give them a couple of weeks, Mark. If they don't do it for you, I suggest - Devaney to Grimsby; JCR to Lincoln; Kayode to Burton Albion; Kozluk to Chesterfield; De Silva to Bristol Rovers (not City); Macken to Rochdale - all on loan, of course, but with the possibility of deals becoming permanent. We need to re-birth the team around the positive attitudes of the triers - Hammill and Hume etc on account of today.
I thought Hammill was garbage today shadow of the player we had on loan. Hume however changed the team
Thats a prime example to me that everyone sees games differently. Not sure what more Hammill can do than beat 5 men and play a perfect reverse pass to Gray 8 yards out.
Anderson was absolutely woeful. Not sure you can hold too much blame for Hammill or Hume Tina - they provided me with the slight bit of hope that a few of our players still know how to play football.
He definitely applauded them before the game - after the game I applauded Hammill when he walked over and I was down the gangway before I saw anyone else.
I know and agree Hume changed the game and looked impressive. I'm just feeling down about the general lack of effort if you know what I mean. Hume's first touch was to cross a great ball to goal and there was no one who could be bothered to chase it.
