I suspect the BBC gave him it.

    They were full of praise.

    None the less he's gash.

England has three central midfielders doing the work of two

It's maybe not a bad idea in the heat, but as a result Michael Carrick has the easiest job on the pitch. He hardly needs to break sweat. That's not to say he didn't play well - he did.

Had England "DRAWN" that game, I think the pundits would have been pointing out how many times England didn't have enough players in the box when the ball was played forward.

Remember, it took a "set piece" to win the game.....

    That's why I said "drawn".

I think it's possible to win the whole thing without even winning a game in normal time.....

I wonder if that has ever been done?

Fair point, but what Michael Carrick had to do he did VERY well, and you can't ask for more than that.

The possible solution would be to play lennon on the right, bring Beckham into the centre and tell gerrard just bomb on forward to support Rooney the way Paul Scholes used to.

Quarter Finals though, all still to play for, very happy.

Might just watch the playoff final again now

I think you've been swayed by the BBC pundits

We've no ball winner in midfield; Carrick's not that player. He didn't create anything but choosing him over the other options leaves us defensively lacking.

We'll be raped by a decent attacking side.

Can you imagine Argentina with that much time on the ball?
