With comments aimed at Liverpool gloating about City. Sorry you know nothing about football rivalry from your armchairs. Happy for City to win the league, ok then. How can you genuinely support a club and try to have a rivalry with another club. While not been bothered about a club in the same City. Plastic fans.
City are about 15 years away from utds record rat eaters are 2 away I know who I'd rather win league if I was a Utd fan it'll take a little gloss off city's title too because it'll not hurt Utd fans as much as it would normally
Man City were always more of a little brother which then turned in to "noisy neighbours" than bitter rivals. Whereas, they f*cking hate Liverpool, understandably!
Went to Uni in Manchester and lived and worked there for 4 years after uni. I know proper Man U fans who go to every game and they genuinely hate City more. But just don't get how you can passionately support a team from another area and try and get a rivalry going.
Think you`ll find the rivalry has been there between Manchester and Liverpool for over a century, just read up on the Manchester Ship Canal.
all the rivalry and hatred is pathetic end of story in my opinion, its football. Manchester city,as far as I know, gave a home to man u after the war, when the old Trafford end of Manchester was flattened. luckily not everyone on terraces hate one another.
If anything I'd say it's the opposite of plastic fans mate. The Man United Liverpool rivalry goes back way before the Premiership and the Sky era, it transcends football and envelops other aspects of life. So as much as City's ascendence must be annoying, it's too early to take precedence over the Liverpool one. Caught between the devil and the deep are the United supporters!
It was about about politics and finance Dek, pretty much same as Us and Forest re miners strike and the scabbing. Not saying its reight, just the reasoning why there happens to be the rivalry.
Yep, taking some small comfort from one team whilst getting it big time from the other. They couldn`t win really the way the title race has panned out.
Manc Dad, mum from birkenhead who's family are scouse. I know all about the rivalry. Lived in Manc for 10 years and know proper fans of both clubs. Family apart from my dad who grew up in Barnsley are all city fans, on mums side a mixture of Tranmere, pool and Everton. Don't mind a Manc hating Liverpool as they hate City 2. But a glory boy fro. Yorkshire knows nothing about city as they don't come across there fans.
The problem is anyone from these parts who 'supports' Man Utd doesn't understand local rivalries as they aren't part of it, they don't go to work with City fans & have the banter. That's why they'll come out with ridiculous statements like saying they want City to win the league. To them United-Spurs means just as much as United-City, they're just another big club & rival.
I think the Man City rivalry is based on locality and not (yet anyway) success / silverware. The Liverpool rivalry covers both locality and success / silverware. To be honest, I'm not too fussed about how our rivals get on.......all I wish for is BFC success.
I'm guessing to be a Barnsley fan who isn't local that you have relatives who brought you up to be a reds fan or that you used to live here so you'll have an understanding on our rivalries & history. I doubt you were a kid like a lot of these Man Utd fans who support them because they're successful & don't have any ties to the club
