Did anybody else not buy the excuse that the linesman didn't see the flick on from giggs but after the goal the ref mentioned it and so he said offside?
Same as seems to be happening quite a lot lately, the fourth official made the decision and told the ref over the earpiece. I find it incredibly hard to believe that the linesman didn't see the flick on that was clear for all to see. Or that if he didn't see the flick that after the goal went in and the ref questioned it he could possibly have said something "oh i didn't see the flick on ref, erm yeah he was offside when it happened, i guess, possibly, i couldn't tell you though because i didn't see it remember but yep definetly offside. what flick on?" If he didn't see it then he cant have known if somebody was offside at random point
The way i saw it is that the linesmen didnt see the flick but thats irrelevant because he did not make the decision and the referee never made a decision, everything was running smooth, the ref gave the goal, then fourth official has a word on the earpiece, saying he was offside. Even if they made the correct decision or not, its not right, if they are going to use the earpieces there is no point in linesmen. What if the referee didnt give a penalty that was then fourth official speaks on the ear piece saying thats a penalty, then the ref changes his mind. Its all wrong they need to scrap the ear pieces or use video technology aswell as ear pieces because using any technology is ruining football at the moment until it becomes black and white about the rules.
thats what I think happened too lee Did the 4th official have a TV that he could see like they do in some televised games for some reason? I definetly think the 4th official made the decision though, if it was the linesmen then surely he would have asked the ref instantly if there had been a flick on while the ball was in play
ps, if earpieces are used then they should be used like in rugby let us all hear what the corrupt Barstewards known as referee's are saying during matches.
RE: ps, if earpieces are used then they should be used like in rugby exactly my mate is a young referee learning his trade and he said that the officials only have little screens and ear pieces when the game is on tv, to stop controversial mistakes from happening. at half time they showed the linesmen and he listened to something in his ear, then shouted to the referee that he didnt see the offside, then covered his mouth and put his flag up quite slowly. Early on in the season when it was aston villa playing on sky, steve bennett gave a penalty then refered to his linesmen they both waited in the corner covering their mouth and got confirmation through the ear piece and disallowed the penalty. what ever happened to the referees decision is final?? its the F.A not setting black and white rules and leaving too many grey areas in football, and this is why their is no respect for referees because a referee can only please one team unless its trev kettle lol
But the Can I award the try ? question that all the viewers can hear and then the decision given just would not be accepted by the football fans, players, management and Uncle tom Cobley.... Everything has to be contested too much money at stake not to , its not sport anymore it just a spectacle.
