Stephen Foster, Rob Edwards, Matty Done and John Rooney will be released by #BarnsleyFC . Everyone else will be offered new deals.

David Flitcroft is the one deciding who contracts are offered to, which strongly suggests he'll be the manager next season.

    And from Paul Walker

I wouldn't be worried by 2 wk period for Flitcroft to sign. As i understand, contracts with lawyers. May be done before then. Club happy.

    Good news all round

Apart from Steve Foster. He's been a great servant to the club, always gave 100% and I'm sad that he's leaving. All the best, Steve, good luck for the future and thanks for all you've done for us.

Cheers for posting that. Slightly surprised about Foster being released, thought he was worth another year. Also a little surprised that we're retaining Harewood, but I presume his experience will be invaluable to the younger players. Assuming we have a new centre half or two on the radar!

    Gutted about Foster.

Been with us for quite a while, scored THAT goal against Cardiff (the point made a massive difference) and had played well this season imo.

Strange one to let him go.

Will be missed by me anyway.

Good luck Steve, and thanks for everything you've done for this football club. I wish you every success in the future.

    Re: Flitcroft to leave

Maybe the club should make Flitcroft sign his name on the back of a cig packet so he can't do a u turn.It reads to me that he has agreed a contract and the lawyers are drawing it up.Can't see a problem whatsoever.

Never. Why would any club have a manager who's on his way out sorting next season's squad out?

I echo all that. He has been fantastic for us on the whole for 6 years, he has contributed massively. Good luck fozzy, sure he will have a club soon enough, hopefully we will play them so we can show our appreciation.

i guess we will never know but the squad players who are being retained, mcnulty/harewood/scotland ? might have been offered lower terms or terms that will not break the bank, might see some of them leave anyway.

Sounds like great news about Flicker but absolutely gutted that Fozzy is being let go. A massive player for us over the years, always committed, always gave 100% in a reds shirt, a true Barnsley stalwart and top professional. I would love to have seen him sign for another year but all the best Fozzy, I hope you get something good; you deserve it.

Just to back up what others have said

Sad as I am that Foster is leaving, I'll back the manager 100% in his decisions. He's earned that right after what he's done for Barnsley. I still have the utmost faith and respect for David Flitcroft and believe he'll move the club forward.

    Eh?

"Bit of confusion re Marlon Harewood. Hasn't been offered a new deal yet because he's away. His future still undecided."

Id agree he'll have to drop down a league..(or 2)..cant get away with the lack of pace now....cheers Steve, hope you find a decent club..

Id add maybe Chesterfield to the two above...
