Why the rush? We certainly dont have the best man for the job,its onlt 3 months since Boro were turned over 4-0 at home to Villa, McClaren was 150-1 at that stage. The Boro fans wanted him out and his club captain says hes not ready for the job. Whats changed in 12 weeks that makes the FA think he is the man for the next 4 years?

did a brilliant job to get them back form that poor form though didnt he. Also Got them to the Uefa Cup final, FA Cup semi final. Worked under Sven, got that experience, hes also English.

If we had appointed someone else you would probably say, why didnt we appoit Mclaren, he was the best man for the job. Its a no win situation with whingers like you.

 

on the other hand

hes a bit of a boring git and blames losing on various things (such as the % of nitrogen in the air)

and I'm not enthused about it

but looking on the positive side

1. He has been involved in the England set up for a few years, knows how it works....wasn't it said at the time Sven was appointed that they would be looking to groom the next manager?

2. I've also heard comments that he's really the one motivating the players and not Sven

3. Sven has been accused of not being able to change tactics when things are going wrong - the 2 recent UEFA Cup comebacks show that Maclaren can do that.

4. A good club manager does not necessarily make a good international manager...e.g. Don Revvie, Graham Taylor

 

I wish the guy all the luck in the world
