Interesting reading every match how everyone is perceived to be either up Hill's arse or dead set against him. Debate tonight seems to have turned to "well are we any better off than we were with Robins?"

I think Hill's doing a great job, has us in a league position which pound for pound is better than most teams in the league, and for the most part the football has been worth watching.

I also think Robins did a great job, settling us when we were dead and buried when he took over and putting us into positions at the midway point where we almost dared dream of looking at the play-offs. Was shocked to see him sacked, but in hinsdight the cost of the loanees and the 2nd half of season slumps did for him.

Finally, and probably most controversially, I reckon Simon Davey did better than he ought to have with some great signings and THAT cup run.

All three have had their darker moments, but we're Barnsley, it's to be expected.

When did the world get so demanding, and why so much one-upmanship? Makes this board far less enjoyable to read.

PS - Andy Ritchie did great too. Paul Hart was the last BFC manager that I thought really didn't do a good job. We've been pretty fortunate on my reckoning - maybe my standards are set too low?

Davey in particular, despite horrid final months, did good job keeping us in his league and we will be in Championship for 7th season next year - with thanks to Robins and Hill too. I think Ritchie had to play price for loyalty to those that got him up unfortunately

actually taking the argument as to who was better hill or robins away from the factor as, believe it or not it wasn't what i set out to do.
all managers since the relegation season have done their bit for our beloved club. davy did the impossible by keeping us up on his first season.ritchie did well to get us up in the first place etc etc. so credit must go to PC and company.
hill is the next step we gonna get woefull results and wayward performances along the way and differences of opinions. we all want bfc to do well and have its interests and well being close to our hearts.
bad games, tactics, and results are gonna cause reaction no doubt and thats where opinions differ.
but we have to look at the long term plans and thats where my difference of thought lies and where others mock and unfortunately my comparison of robins and hill came in.
but this is a well thought and balanced thread and puts everything into perspective. respect

I don't think any of us mind losing, if we set out to attack and have a go. However to lose today without even attempting to go for it winds most of us up

Completely agree. If I'd have gone today I'd be even more annoyed than I was listening to the commentary.

Just don't understand why every match has to be analysed in the context of whether we like the manager or not, or whether he's better or worse than the previous incumbent.

Sorry, thought I was on a different thread, where we could moan (seriously.. using forum runner) didn't mean to hijack a proper discussion

agree entirely and it's unacceptable, but to say these sort of performances are exclusive to keith hill is unjust to say the least and thats where my comparisons with Robins, Davy etc came in and i'm not going down that road again but we had these performances under other managers. over reactions like allen on deedar don't do us any favours.

its the long term plans that worry me,,,in fact what are the long term plans,,,because whether we like it or not we'll never build a team capable of promotion because we are a selling club,,,as soon as any player shows some promise they are snapped up by somebody with more cash....I havnt got a clue who i can blame for this but its a worry and a frustration...and probably as good a reason as any, rightly or wrongly that we have a lot of stay away fans......just half a season of decent form these days seems to be enough to loose your promising players,,,,and to loose them just so that they can go and keep a subs bench warm is even more f88kin frustrating.

    well thats the $64,000 question.
but players will come and go as always.
100% of clubs in the championship are selling clubs wham lost a lot of theirs when relegated its a dog eat dog situ.if the price is right the'yll go only man city can stop this as tevez proved.
but the long term plan in my opinion has never changed , stay in the championship get to premiereship if poss but don't skint club.
