Managers that have turned us down?

    Was having a conversation with a mate earlier about past managers etc and was talking about strong rumours that didn’t materialise management wise.

    He then said Ron Atkinson once turned us down late 90’s. I’ve never heard this before? I’m fortunate to know a few people over the years at the club and get some second hand info regarding managers and players but Atkinson surely would have been extreme.

    Any others we truly know about?

    I'm pretty sure Barry Taylor once told me that Steve Bruce turned us down.

    Is it true we were thinking about sacking Danny Wilson in 1997 and that's when Ron Atkinson turned us down and kept Wednesday up?

    what a farce that was! As I recall Butcher met with Cryne in some posh establishment & had an offer on the table & Butcher told Cryne he needed until x time to make up his mind. Everyone was on tenterhooks, & as we know he turned us down. Went well for him!

    We interviewed Roy Keane but I don’t think he was offered the job or turned us down. I was working at the club at this point.

    I heard the Terry Butcher helicopter rumour was a myth but that he did turn down the job.

    Patrick told us that Uwe Rosler refused to take any of his calls. Think that was before we appointed Johnson.

    Lucky let off...if rumours were to believed at the time
    Blackwell walked out of his interview when told we had numerous players lined up ready to sign...said its my job to highlight who I want....its your job to go and get them.....not at this club it isnt he was told....

    Gordon Stracan whilst he was a player at Leeds actually shook hands on the deal to be player manager then went back on his decision after Leeds offered him a coaching role.

    Didn’t Gareth Ainsworth turn us down to stay at Wycombe a couple of years ago?

    Fair play to him, he achieved what he set out to do there.
