I know ive made this point below, but i think its worth raising again. Alot of what happened saturday was down to the two managers. In the second half Coventry came out and blew us away, controlled midfield and were making all the running. This is probably influenced by Ian Dowie, who showed me he had the ability to get another 20/30 percent out of his players. Whereas Our team played to the same level as in the first half and made 3 idiotic mistakes that didnt help. I know Davey cant legislate for individual errors, (none of which were Clogans, by the way). but the Coventry team were definetely more up for the second half, tried harder and got the breaks. I think we have a lame manager who cant motivate his players while their on the field. And that will be fatal in this league.
either way, he got more out of his players in the second half. Davey got less, what can we decude from that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That will make the difference this year for me
We had a few warnings in the first half that we got away with in the shape of free headers. Trouble was carried on in the same way after half time. Other than that Dowie has better players than Davey at his disposal. No nonsense centre half and centre forward made us look like a set of girls.
Good points But after the penalty we matched them, they came out for the second half and worked harder, we came out and bricked it. i think the manager has to be a but responsible for that, (BOTH managers)
RE: Good points When was the last time we had a manager who got stuck into the Refs?
Its amazing how you get more from a ref if your giving him a hard time.

RE: Good points I agree with that. their third goal was on the break but we really were sissys up front until Odejaye came on and had the audacity to stand up to their number 5.
RE: Good points I just remember the Burnley manager giving the ref hell all the way from halfway to the tunnel at Turf Moor.
2nd half we got next to nothing from the ref.
Was Ricthie ever that animated?

I agree with your sentiments, perhaps Davey cannot communicate with his international squad and this make take time to get through to them. Either way Coventry were far superior in the second half, Dowie was jumping up and down the toch line , whilst Mr Davey looked perplexed. Expect more of the same tonight, Dave Penny is a crafty manager and he will have a plan to outwit a novice like Davey.
I can remember it happening against southend. We were two nil up at half time, their manager was having a right go at the ref in the centre circle and got everything second half, drew 2-2. disallowed Hayes goal
Prefer not to have a mardy arsed manager to be honest... All managers lose their rag once or twice but the likes of Gregory, Dowie, Warnock etcetera have absolutely no dignity in my opinion. Same regards the Roy Keane type players who are on the Ref's case at every opportunity...
Dignity???????? they managed football teams for christ sake. Gimme an undignified lout like Dowie, (the other two examples excluded). that can come and kick this powder puff football team into shape anyday. As oppossed to Simple Simon. The tactically naive, clueless inept ,(but dignified) excuse for a manager we have.
RE: Dignity???????? Yes, dignity - i.e. building and moulding a squad of footballers who rely, predominantly, on their ability to play football to win games. Unlike Dowie who had a great deal of assistance from the ref on Setdi mainly due to his whinging, whining and carrying on. Winning is important but not at the expense of fair play and the rules of the game. Trying to influence refs by whining or by having an "elevated" status in the game (a la Moan Ushited, Chelski, Washday, Wolves, Brum) is on the same road (if not quite as far down) as bribing refs, football associations and other players in order to win. So give me a manager with dignity otherwise the game isn't worth having - we can all watch wrestling or summat where the TV executives decide who wins and who loses...
RE: Dignity???????? The ref didnt make paul reid miss two headers in the box, he didnt play the ball through werlings legs and make Kozluk lose his man for a goal. What you saw with Dowie was a manager that cared about his side winning, not some dim witted muppet who darent say boo to his any of players. It wasnt just Dowie that won them that game. it was us that game them it. He got more out of his players in the second half and Davey didnt. thats the facts.
RE: Dignity???????? Yes, we lost the game and would've probably lost it regardless even if they'd been reduced to ten men as they rightly should have. On that point, you are right and I haven't said any different. However, you may have seen a man who "cared about his side winning" what I saw (especially from a manager whose commitment to his particular "side" has been questionable in the past) was a grown man having a tantrum about decisions by the referee. A tantrum made all the worse by the fact that the referee gave very few decisions against that grown man's side - not the ones that counted, anyway (like sending Osbourne off or not talking to Howard when it was Howard that was fouled and not the fouler or doing something about their elbows approach to the game). So, while we're on the subject of muppets I'll tell you that the biggest muppets in the world are grown men who have tantrums because they don't get their own way. Slightly bigger muppets are those grown men who tantrum when they do get their own way. Men like Dowie... Grown men who have tantrums have precious little dignity - fact. I prefer the representatives of my club (and consequently, my community) to behave with dignity.
Its one game and already the knives are being sharpened. Surely they players must take some responsibility for motivating themselves. Highly paid athletes ffs.
