Clearly uncomfortable, head down, not making eye contact on some of the things he was saying. I wonder what the steps were in the sacking? Who started it? League position is not good, but 7 points from either end of the league doesn't justify a sacking. Wasn't there on Tuesday, but reports on the performance seem to disagree with that. The new TV deal gives championship clubs £5,000,000 per year. Division 1 clubs get £750,000. I wonder if this works against long term planning? This is a new gamble, invest a million now and gain £5,000,000 next year.
He looked very much like a man sent out to give someone else's message. That said, i'm not gonna start knocking Pat. I know plenty will like, but still I genuinely believe we'd be in an even worse state if he wasn't here. At the end of the day he's supported the Club financially, more than any one of us. If anyone has the right to make the decision, it's him..
According to Ben in that interview the academy costs a million quid a year to maintain our category two status - whilst I want to see good young players come through, and I think we are seeing that to an extent already, are we really able to do that AND challenge to get back in the Championship?
For me Ben is drinking in the Last Chance Saloon. He's been responsible for a relegation, 2 bad managerial signings & loads of bad player signings (loans & contracts). Admittedly can't blame him for either managerial pick, in that both were just going with the populous, but surely that is why you pay someone, to bear that in mind, but to look in the interests of the club, not just making a certain element of the fan base happy. Covering his arse... career professional... let me vomit now. Commercial end of the club still run like a charity whist drive. Tell me what this bloke has brought to the table? If Danny is packing his bags, this boy scout of a CEO should stop ironing his socks for his next meeting with Patrick & do the honourable thing and **** right off.
Most of the **** commercial stuff was signed before Ben took over though so there was nothing he could do about it. For that shouldn't we blame those who were there then?
By the same measure that was applied to Danny, can he show us any success? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
It's all about results, we were in the championship when he arrived. We are now in danger of relegation in division 1. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Agree, but if you compare the mansford (or the ban mansfield, as i prefer) years to the previous years of struggle, at least they came with some survival / high points.) Haven't seen a new scoreboard, any improvement in services at the ground, in fact all I've heard is a load of corporate ********. The biggest load of ******** was about a long term approach & bringing our youth team through. We have played the odd one or two for a couple of games & buckled...
But the manager is the one who chose not to play them not the chairman (or whatever he is) and I suspect it was the owner who pulled the plug on the scoreboard last year.could be wrong though
I agree Danny had lost his bottle. I never agree with any type of reunion ever, if it is commercial. Being commercial (for right or wrong) does mean moving on, otherwise you are out of date. If you run Saga the strategy is to be out of date of course. A massive amount of BBS folks cried out for Danny. I said it would be a mistake & it was him. They went with the mob. Ban Mansfield needs to come out with a name, or he really needs to walk the plank.
i don't see the connection personally. the manager identifies the players he wants, picks the team and formations. this is all about performance on the pitch, not off it. if ben had veto'd players, tried to influence recruitment, made us sell our crown jewels, worsened the squad. any of those things, i would say yes. but i don't believe he has. in fact i believe he's worked tirelessly to support the manager and strengthen our commercial position off the pitch. i personally don't hold ben primarily responsible for any of the $hit i'm watching out there on match day..
Head down. Not making eye contact. Because he knows we've got Danny's replacement already but can't possibly admit it?
Correct. Pretty fed up to be honest... Danny hasn't got results & shouldn't have come back... problem is we don't seem to have much of a strategy going forwards. I've never liked Mansford from day one. He is the sort of guy I've dealt with in business most of my life, who has always been the mouthpiece for the organ grinder. In no way does that make him the monkey though. Monkey tennis anyone?
I actually think hes ok and doing a decent job, opinions eh! he's the mouthpiece of the business and as such hes going to take the flak when things go wrong, just as he should take the plaudits if they (ever) go right!
yeah ... it is all opinions nothing I post about football is to be taken too seriously ... as much as I respect him Bill Shankly WAS frankly wrong when he said; "Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that." the war in Ukraine & the "vanilla" tax avoidance cause me more serious concern football (and BFC in particular) is my distraction ... a pleasant one much of the time, letting off steam on here
