Obviously To be a good fan you need to clap blindly anything in a Red shirt and never demand better for "our" club
Thing is you're not entitled for formulate an opinion on any player unless you've seen him in a Barnsley shirt first. the fact that Richards was released by Northamption, loaned out to Rochdale last season and has never really been prolific in a lower league should have no bearing on your view of him. at all.
RE: Thing is Oh, it hasn't. Why should we let facts and statistics get in the way? He's obviously great. I bet Jarman and Joynes are dead chuffed and feel they can learn a lot from him.
Got a text from a mate of mine who's a Donny fan. 'Another injury prone panic buy?'. About sums it up for me.
RE: Obviously I'll applaud. I do that anyway. What I won't do it not criticise 'cos we should have been looking longer and for better players. Remember how Shuker re-signing was the 'last piece in the jigsaw'? Yeah. Course he is. We've barely even found the corners and the bits with the straight edges.
Oh yes..I remember that one.. how I chuckled and then foolishly went to Oakwell to stump up my £275. Get behind em Get behind em. Shouting and clapping will not turn poor players into good ones. FACT I will clap too. And reserve the right to criticise
RE: Really? Some chap from Barnsley came on to tell them where a football club was in Saudi that Job had gone to from Middlesborough. They quizzed him further but he said that seeing as he was a Barnsley fan he didn't see much foreign football ( I laughed). Then Seth or somesuch said " Ah but what about when Marc Richards fires you back into the Premiership ? " The cnuts.
Never seen him, never heard of him therefore he must be rubbish! Is that how it goes?! I'll wait and see, as I said I know nothing about him.
RE: Thing is I'll give a player the benefit of the doubt. Obviously Ritchie has seen something in the player that he likes, we look at stats and that's basically it, what they don't tell you is the formation played in, instructions that player had within that formation and a whole host of other things. Also the game is littered with stories of players that maybe haven't done anything at one club but a change of manager, coach, playing style and then they seem a different player. I'm not saying that will be the case with Richards, who knows, but the manager thinks he can get something out of him otherwise he wouldn't have signed him. So in a way you are correct - we can't really formulate an opinion until we see him in a reds shirt because only then will we see how he fits into the team.
Saw him for the reserves last week. Aggressive, brave and strong in the box and out though not 6foot plus, deceptively pacey on the chase, good movement and technique, scored a header by forcing his way in front of defenders and the keeper who looked good to catch the cross - lacks fitness but he stood out from the lot of em along with Tandy who looks deceivingly little and 'fat', but doesn't move anything like it, doesn't give the ball up easily, even when floored in a tackle because of neat close control and seems a true tricky left winger and only a kid!!Slight essence of the God Glavin's twinkle toes and Martin Bullock's runs (and not only me saw that)both played better than Jarman I thought; but that's my opinion and open to disagreement.
