On bench for brum again, Conor Mahoney also on bench and Gary Gardner in the starting 11 just turned it on now.

Gardner looking very proficient and comfortable. Unbelievable he was chastised by many on here.
With Dougall or the rejuvenated Mowatt alongside him last season we’d still be in the league above.

For me Gardner got better as the season went on I don't think he was fit when he 1st came.

I thought and said Gardner always looked excellent when Williams wasn't in the side.

I think he's only started in the league cup. Their fans didn't seem keen on him last season either.

Meanwhile, a limited defender, well on his way to being made for life, is sat on the bench getting splinters in his arse.

It's was painful to watch the 2 of them in the same side equally the same type of player some games we might aswell have picked 6 at the back. Williams started the season well and faded away as Gardner got better as the season went on. I'd definitely have gardener over Williams.

Was to be expected really Gardner has a lot more experience than Williams.

Exactly why they sent him on loan to us. Great player and definitely championship standard

Yeah i liked Roberts no nonsense defender always gave 100% what wasn't to like. But I think with pinnock and Lindsay they are both comfortable on the ball I watched pinnock last week ping 2 balls cross field straight to pinnilos's feet Roberts doesn't possess that passing ability. Would of been good last season if him and linďsay would of been our regular center back pairing. Although been too negative and not scoring enough 1st half of the season eventually cost us. Roberts had a poor season last season according to brum fans 3.5million looks decent now hopefully gets moved on and we get a few more quid soon.

Can hardly blame the lad, we didn't offer him a new deal, we accepted a offer for him and Birmingham probably upped his wages about 400%. The down side for him is obviously game time, didn't he sign a 5 year deal? So 4 more to go, doubt he will walk away from that and can't see anyone matching his wages anytime soon. He will probably end up out on loan in the future.

    On Gardner & Williams.

Williams was far better in the first half of the season than Gardner was in the second.

They only played together a handful of times once in September at Preston & then a few more during January & then Williams returned to Everton injured & had to cut his loan spell shirt for an operation.

Common sense tells me that Williams was probably not fully fit during the few games they played together given that he was excellent for us before then, has been excellent for Everton’s kids & since he’s joined Bolton.

Pinnock and Lindsay last week seemed to panic last 20 minutes especially Lindsay and played to many sloppy passes
