Just for context Max watters £330k transfer fee and 3 years contract worth £612k in total, add the loan fee in from 22/23 season and there's a £1m player.
When you say we can't compete that's the equivalent of offering 6.5k a week for 3 years to an out of contract player, Harness had a contract at Ipswich for 6.3k a week for 3 years (year on loan at Derby)

Think Max Watters was Khaled’s parting shot at us. For sheer waste of good money he’s up there with the worst signings I’ve ever known us make.

 

Start adding in Dallas, Shaw our loan signings and half our bloated squad and its no wonder we are skint, less is definitely more quality over quantity

 

Harness is proven at the level. Never quite hit the heights further up, but with Pompey and then Ipswich, he's shown he's good for double figure goal contributions in the third tier. Sensible move you'd have to say.

Ledson was a bit-part player at an average PNE for the last few years. Never kicked on. But that's Championship football. Should stand out a level below, you'd imagine. Entering his prime, on a free, seems a decent move from Huddersfield.

They seem to be following Rotherham's approach from last summer. Early free transfers.

 

We really do need to get some proven quality in, by hook or by crook. I know we're not exactly awash with money, but we have to buck the trend of the last however many years. Waiting until the last minute has been our downfall over the last few years. We end up with panic-driven dross.

I'm more than confident that Conor will have told them exactly who he wants, bearing in mind we're wanting to play a very specific style of football (very much welcomed).

Surely we can't be hanging around until the last days of the window again! We've got to give Conor the best possible chance of success this year, and that starts with giving him the squad he wants, and a full pre-season with them to get the messages across.

Said it lots of times on here as have others, Mlden is a massive liability and his ineptitude coupled with the Conman fiddle to buy the 2 Belgians will see us stuck in this division for many years ( Or worse) we can compete on wages if we stop paying out stupid money on long contracts and loans that leave us with 30+ players and shopping at Lidl. I have little confidence that this new lot will turn it around but may sell if the chance arises.

 

And some posters love to slag devante cole off at every chance. But in comparison zero transfer fee and top scorer 2 seasons on spin.

I agree with you we do make poor decisions.

 

It's whether they can harness his potential.

I think yll find many of us are Season tkt holders and travel away as well. Vast amount of knowledge on here about BFC and an appreciation of our history.
