Only just had chance to watch the highlights on Player and couldn't believe Pedersen's inept decision making when we were on a great counter attack. He has Paddy McCourt in acres of space to his left and just needs to play him in for a clear run on goal, but instead decides to shoot himself from 25+ yards! The weak shot is easily saved of course. For me he isn't worth a place in the side yet; he shows promise but for me wastes too many promising positions by shooting from too far out or misplacing a pass. I'd much rather have Scotland on for an hour to be replaced by Dagnall or vice versa. Pedersen is still very inexperienced and we can't afford to let him learn his trade when we are in desperate need of goals and points...
Forwards do get greedy though when they are starved of chances at any level of football. Nature of the beast.
It was one of those situations were had Pederson played McCourt in and either overhit the pass or got blocked then we would have lambasted him for not shooting
He is a full Norwegian international - I dont think any of our other players would get even close the the Norway national side - and Scotland would have shot in exactly the same position - McCourt also several times didnt pass when he should have so to pick one tame shot as an argument that he is too inexperienced is a bit strange. He is a top player but unfortunately the system he is being asked to play doesnt do him any favours
I don't think the system is doing any of our players any favours. Well, Cranie and M'Voto are being given plenty of protection by the midfield, but apart from that I don't think we're using any of our players to their strengths. I'm still on Flicker's side, but that really is very worrying. It's no wonder we're not getting the results.
I'd much rather a player shoot than not. Sometimes it's the right decision, sometimes it isn't. I'd select Pedersen before any other striker on the books every time, with the exception of O'Grady.
hes not going to be the complete package He wouldnt be at oakwell if he was!!! he is still far better than all other strikers we have on books
I noticed that too although it was Mellis on the left instead of McCourt. McCourt passed him the ball Woodbine. If he timed the pass right Mellis could have had a nice firest time shot or had a touch and tried to bend it in to far corner.
Barely even worth replying to. Scotland 10 years ago cracking player. Dagnall never good enough at Championship level. Pedersen international player. It's not hard is it.
Or Mellis could have passed it back to the keeper in just the same was as he did when put through just before half time
That's unfair. At least Mellis was making a run into the box, and unfortunately the keeper saved it. Let me know when Perkins/Fox/Dawson/Etuhu/Kennedy get into the box.
Pedersen............isn't good enough for the Championship............end of, full stop. He shows flashes and that's about it. I think Scotland, even at the age he is, is better than Pedersen...........but Scotland is only good for 30 minutes. Dagnal tries but aint up to it Rose needs to be given a chance if no one else is brought in If we had got a decent striker at the side of COG..........we would have won Wendy, Donny, Ipswich and Millwall.........that's 12 foooking points gone missing!!!
Nudger? COG didn't score against any of those sides. He missed a pen, and was generally poor I am told against Donny. He was awfully average against Wednesday, and rather poor at Ipswich. Pedersen scored, though, against Wednesday. So your argument dunt stack up, mate.
I know its unfair I was being flippant though Mellis did miss 2 of out 3 best chances at Millwall - the second I think he was just unlucky that he hit the defender though - dont think defender knew much about it. I just dont understand why people are ganging up on Pederson thats all I think he is one of our better players
Think Woodbine is the only one to join Nudger in criticising Pedersen. I'm loathe to criticise him or any of our strikers because I believe they'd all score goals in a regular fashion were we playing football that created chances. As it is, we aren't, and so Mellis will get a bit of stick for not finishing that one clear opportunity. I think Wiseman missed a decent chance. But at least he was in their box to do so.
He buried the one at the other end though... ( sorry just couldnt resist) Actually the one Wiseman missed was probably the best of the lot though I think their keeper pulled off a top save to deny him
