looked very sharp for Wednesday tonight. If we were linked with him that was a good move, for sure. If we are not going to sign him, just watch him 'do a Cureton' and score the winner on Tuesday. I think that whether we do any business on Monday will depend on: 1. Whether Mifsud decides to keep his Coventry wages until the end of the season, or whether he gets a different offer (I don't hear of any, but he seems the type to whom money matters more than anything else in the world, so I can see him not going anywhere before the deadline.) 2. Whether we take the million plus for JCR, as this would allow some cash to splash. 3. What 'irons are still in the fire,' or whether the fire has gone out. Whilst the scouting mission must be a distraction from managing the club, it is necessary. Dream ticket - the arrival of David McGoldrick AND Simon Cox - problem is that this might only be the result of the departure of JCR. It has been a strange few weeks since Davey made his 'we will listen to offers for any of our players' statement. Can't help feeling that the place was already a bit unsettled before the bad run started and may be the cause of it - players having to ask themselves, 'do I really want to play for Barnsley.' Players thinking that there might be other options. Agents stirring it a bit with press statements, or rumours linking eg Anderson with WBA, or Leon with some Argentinian club. We need to get the injured players back as soon as possible and, hopefully, bring in some fresh faces by Tuesday. This sort of disturbance should upset performances on the pitch necessarily - look at the turmoil at West Ham, but they are on a good run and playing for each other, the manager, the team and the fans. We CAN get on to a good run - and boy do we need to. I think that, either way, things will settle after the deadline has passed and we will be clearer who is committed to stay and battle.
