Remember when he played up front with Winnie?

As I remember he scored 2 goals and big Whinnie 1. Can't remember who we were playing.

Home to Reading , Spring 1971

We won 3-0 . I think Phil Chambers made his debut that day too , taking Boothy's place at left back .

Well I got the scorers right

He was a top player with Winstanley and Howard in the middle and I think Spud at right back.

I remember Howard used to hack people down and not even get a ticking off. He would have had a red card in the warm up these days. Fantastic player, from Dodeth an'all, I think.

I used to hang around the Horse and Jockey in Dodeth

I had a sort of premonition that I would be hanging round there 35 years later

    He certainly was

My first Barnsley hero ( second only to Glavin in my all time list ) and his challenges were 'boisterous' .
