One of the truely world class sportsmen from the British Isles Seems like a top bloke as well As does Wiggins as well
Think he was the only cyclist (male) not to medal at the Bejing Olympics and therefore on the flight home to the U.K. they didn't upgrade his seat.
Yep and he wasn't that happy with having to leave the tour early to then be let down by Wiggins in the Madison
can you explain to me in a few words how the madison (and keron) actually work - just what is that old bloke doing on the durdy(sp) bike? cheers
keirin bike paces the pack up to 50mph(I think) then pulls over for the final sprint-it's a huge betting sport in Japan-Chris Hoy devotes nearly a chapter to it in his book-well worth a read even if you aren't into cycling-as is "Wiggo's" which I have just finished. He really went on a massive bender after the Olympics!!!

Here's a link to keirin
http://www.trackmania.de/pdf.keirin/keirin.e.pdf

Oh hello ! If it isn't The Keeper Of The Three Tunnels Of Excessive Friendliness back on here again. Been away bread boffing have we?
RE: They won't be too far off 50mph. nt The motorcycle releases the riders at 50 kph which is just over 30 miles per hour.
Apparently the bikes are doing 70kph by the end of the race Although I have just donea dreamboy there.
I know **** all about cycling.

RE: Apparently the bikes are doing 70kph by the end of the race Aye, in the sprint at the end they can get up to about that speed, and that is over 40 mph but still well short of 50 mph.
RE: Apparently the bikes are doing 70kph by the end of the race Depends whether you think 45mph isn't too far off 50mph.
70 kph isn't 45 mph though It's 43.49 mph which is certainly not 50 mph however much you want to push it.
I regularly reach speed of 60mph on my BMX to be honest. These guys are ****. And I can bunny-hop up kerbs.
