For the second season running and the third time in his careerhe's reached 2000 runs for the season averaging an astonishing 101.30. Last season it took him only 20 innings to reach the total, which to give some idea of how good he was, beat Don Bradman's total of 21 innings back in 1938.</p> Not bad for a 38 year old </p> </p>
excellent season for Ramps yet again, just a shame he never quite replicated his county form at test level,a bit like Hick, still class though.
And He Can Also....... cheat on his wife and be forgiven by her. Quality county player who for whatever reason could never do it for England.
just looking at the bowling for this season and it's definately a golden oldies year!Mushtaq (37), Otis Gibson (38) and Andy Caddick (38), a combined age of 113 came first, second and third in the number of wickets taken with a total of 244 for the season.Otis Gibson also took all ten in one game with figures of 10-44.
class player never really cut it test level , probably due to the fact he played when you were in and back out if you didnt make runs , also got shunted about the order when he did play.... shoulda played 100 tests for mine .....
the odd thing is his average against Australia, easily the best test playing nation when he played, was a very respectable 42.00.
RE: class player Ramprakash's test averages against each test nation</p> http://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Players/1/1989/t_Batting_by_Opponent.html</p> Season by season first class record.</p> http://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Players/1/1989/f_Batting_by_Season.html</p>
RE: class player did we only pick him when we went to the west indies ? something the selectors arent telling us ?
