Admits that giving three defenders their debuts had a bearing. Only had 24 hours to work with them: makes it even stranger that he made that decision.

Well gray has done nothing wrong so it was partly his fault.

Can we not take a positive look at that? He'd admitted it didn't work and something he would change in the future - throw them all in the deep end straight away.

Would 'he who must not be named' have admitted that? I suspect not.

It's thinking it might work that disappoints me. You were hard pressed to find anyone who thought that was a good idea at 2.30. You've just got the team showing some response, then you make wholesale changes. Barmy and put us back a stride or two.

He should never have taken the risk. This could course massive mental problems to all of them. Speaking of vito his mistake at luton (i think that was his first game where he came off bench) would have coursed him problems for all of his spell at barnsley.

I agree, its a tall order to replace the foundations of the team in one fell swoop.

Seems to me that we are knackered without big Daz, the only leader we have in defence.

    A bit dramatic

'This could course massive mental problems to all of them'......you mean their confidence might be a bit dented, unless Robins intends to make them stand against a wall with a hood over their heads listening to white noise for 24 hrs then put them through a water boarding session whilst removing their toe nails and drilling through their teeth aka Marathon Man.

Why should we look at it positively?

He messed up. Just because he's admitted it doesn't mean that it should be ignored.

RE: Why should we look at it positively?

'messed up' - bit harsh. Bugger me there's some right managers on here.

No, I probably wouldn't have changed the defence that much.

But how many fans of Kozluk are on here? One change. Big Dave was injured - so that's two changes I reckon most would allow - so realistically it was Gray's omission from left back that is rankling.

He's done OK, very good going forward. But it was an away game - perhaps the selection was an attempt to be more solid, whatever the reasons, it matters not.

It didn't work. The manager has claimed all of the blame to cover for a defence which made fundamental mistakes, mistakes which unfortunately would equally as likely have happened with different personnel. Yes Robins deserves his share for a bold selection which backfired, but individual **** ups you cant plan for.

Robins picked the team. The team lost.

But messed up? Na. At least he has the balls to make a change early enough in the game to actually affect said game. And how many games where we were three down under Davey did we show fight and spirit to get back to 3-2?

Their fourth was against the run of play - that's football. If we'd have got it to 3-3 we may well have gone on. Should we have won 4-3 it would have whitewashed over the stinking stain which is our defending at the moment.

It needs addressing - and is being addressed.

    Is it not a possibility

That with Moore and Hassel injured. Gray not playing a competitive football match for months and then three in a week so he was somewhat knackered. Thompson not breaking any pots.

We were left with very little options in that area but to start the new guys.

It also seems that the first goal came through midfield and their whole team had too much space to play in throughout, which surely isnt just down to the defence.

Your right, maybe it's a bit far considering his hand was forced.

It just gets on my tits that people aren't now allowed to have any criticism of the new manager.

Gray has played three competitive games in a week after not doing so for months. He may well have been feeling it a touch.

I am not sure Davey would have noticed that it needed addressing.

RE: Is it not a possibility

Robins obviously doesn't rate Thompson at all. Dragged him off after 20 minutes at Watford and after apparantly having a tidy 2nd half against Burnley? The fans and the player himself may have thought he'd be in the reckoning for a starting place today. With Robins totally have a re-shape of the defence he must not be in the plans or just used as a back-up. That may not go down well with some fans but i haven't seen the guy play at all this season! Didn't go to Watford and missed the Burnley match - so i'll leave others to make their mind up on that one.
