Sky Sports has learnt that Mark Robins has emerged as a contender for the Birmingham City job.

The former Barnsley and Rotherham boss is still highly regarded after good work with both South Yorkshire clubs.

Now he is in the frame to replace Chris Hughton at St Andrews after he left for Norwich City last week.

Sky Sports has already revealed that Paul Ince is one name on their radar, but it is also understood that Birmingham have a number of other names on their shortlist.

Former Huddersfield chief Lee Clark, ex-Bolton boss Sammy Lee and current Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cotterill are also being looked at.

Cotterill's situation has become complicated in recent weeks with speculation that he could be replaced at the Forest helm if a proposed takeover of the club by a Kuwaiti consortium is successful.

The likes of Mick McCarthy, Billy Davies and Gary Megson have also been linked in the local media.
