anyone saying different is kidding themselves. If he succeeds, it will be against the odds, that is the point, why are we taking a risk? If we go down, it will be no surprise to anyone. We've sacked an inexperienced manager with more experience than him. Don't draw comparisons with managers who plied their trade in the lower leagues 10 + years ago, the jump from League 2 to Championship is much much bigger. For every Clough, theres 10 Parkins.

A new manager should bring renewed optimism. I and most I speak to feel completely disillusioned. Completely.

Dont be such a drama queen

    1. He's not got the job yet
    2. We could / should be interviewing others
    3. I think he'll do OK if he gets it.

I'd rather see someone with more experience but that does not necessarily lead to success.

What if he signs a decent left footed left back?? :D

Following your pre-gordon cuppa, your attitude toward the club and Davey was similar to most who express concern about Robins, given your dramatic turn around in favour of davey post-Gordon cuppa, I thought you, above all, might reserve judgement on Robins.

    Obviously not.

I honestly can't see how you can be more pessimistic than five days ago under Davey. You've been to the home games Steve, its been a total fooking shambles of a summer and a start to the season, genuinely as poorly set up and tactically naive as we were under Spackman. Apart from anything else his failure to sign a left back must have been consistently embarrassing for people who wanted him to stay.

I don't see how you can be more down than you were last week, regardless of who we get, even if it was the Full Ponty.

Sounds like your planning a Robbins out protest already...

If he did get the job, FFS give the guy a chance!

He can't be that much more inexperienced than davey can he?

Davey has only won 45 games as a manager, Robins has won 55.

Robins has improved year on year as a manager and this is reflected in his league positions, simon davey has clearly not done.

robins is experienced enough to have gained enough points for a play-off spot last season, only a huge points deduction stopped the play-offs from becoming a reality. If davey had suffered a similar points deduction we would never have left the bottom of the table last season. Pretty much how this season has started with him to be honest.

Lets face it, Robins is FAR more experienced than davey was when we took him on so there is no comparison there and even now Robins is far more experienced as a WINNING manager.

    O'Driscoll

    Laws

    Di Matteo

    N.Clough

    Pearson

All the above came from lower league teams...

Now lets look at some of the others....

    Houghton

    Mackay

    Rodgers

    Sousa

    Adkins

    Ferguson

    Keane

    Hardly experienced managers, are they?

And how many of those clubs have been looking for managers since the likes of Curbs have been out of work? Reading, Watford, Swansea, Ipswich, Derby, West Brom? And yet all went for a young, upcoming manager.

I'm guessing all these experienced managers you keep banging on about don't want a job...

Inexperienced, short term only acadamy manager

Or successfull league two manager who got 70 odd points last season and sits in an automatic promotion spot today. I know who i'd consider the cheap option of the two

You never gave a proper answer to my earlier question

What evidence do you have that he won't do a decent job?

    On the other hand..

..a good, young manager who wasn't bad in his playing days. He's got more experience than the last manager, so that's a start.

I'll admit we could get somebody 'experienced' in, but we don't do that with our players, so what makes you think the club will change their ways.

    Get behind 'em.

I want Paul Jewell, I want Paul Jewell, I dont want Mark Robins

And I'll stamp my feet until it happens. Well S.M - It isn't going to happen - change the record. Do you know what - no matter how many posts you write about Mark Robins its not going to make a blind bit of notice on whether he gets the job or not. Accept that. Accept Paul Jewell isn't getting the job.

Why dont you use all this negative energy and put it to something positive. You say that it would be against the odds if Mark Robins succeeds - I think you'll find what he has done at Rotherham was against the odds. He deserves a chance to better himself and I for one wouldn't mind if we gave it him.

Id much sooner have Robins with some drive for the job and a will to succeed. Hes a far less risk that Jewell, on what I would guess considerably higher wages than Robins, for him to pack it all in after 8 months realising he isn't up for the fight. See his last appointment for evidence.

I have to say that I agree 100% with SM. Which is rather unusual given that I wanted Davey removed from his post 2 seasons ago. I really really fear for us if this happens. Living in Scotland it's very frustrating to here view after view from fans on our stuation from a real mix of clubs all united in their opinion...Robins? why?
Only Barnsley are capable of such a terrible decision.
