This has just been reported on the BBC website: BBC Leeds report that Mark Robins will hold 'face-to-face talks' with Huddersfield on Wednesday. Looks like he will be the Terriers' new boss.
I can understand their anger. I'd be fuming if it was a BFC manager who was doing what Robins is doing to them. Be careful Mark, what goes around comes around.
I've been reading a bit more about the situation, and it seems that there is still a huge question mark over the financial stability of Coventry. One bloke has drawn a parallel with the circumstances of his departure from Oakwell. Having said that, if he does go then resigning six months into a three year contract at the first sign of interest from above is pretty lousy. That's why I think there's more to it than meets the eye, especially with Coventry still in with an outside shout of the play-offs. Incidentally, their fans say he's got them playing "attractive football". Wonders never cease.......
Wonder if we'd be 3rd bottom now if he was still in charge? Simple fact is he didn't/couldn't work on the budget he was being offered for this league. For all Keith's faults he did, kept us up and made us a pretty penny from player sales too.
Who's going to be the first to warn them what style of football to expect? good luck to him, I fully expect him to keep them up, with a series of dour but effective performances, hope we are safe by the time we go there.
Why wasn't he given chance? He had just as long as Keith in charge, took over a better squad, spent more money, recovered less in player sales and got us a very small amount more of points. Don't think I ever said noone could do better. I remember saying you'd have to do an exceptional job to get us to midtable, a good job to keep us up and even if we'd been relegated it doesn't mean they'd done a bad job.
No. He was sacked because he wanted time to consider where teh removal of support left him. seeing as he's already lined up signings based on previous promises of said support. Its academic now because both managers have gone and Flicker is doing a good job at the min. Perhaps land should have been sold for housing before.....
"Perhaps land should have been sold for housing before....." Why is Steve Houghton stumping up 50% of the playing budget ? #pot #piss #in
Re: Who's going to be the first to warn them what style of football to expect? While they are relegation rivals the only luck I'll be wishing him is bad.
He's carving out a reputation for leaving every club under strange circumstances. Rovrum, us and now Cov. The common denominator? Mark Robins. Would be quite amusing if Cov came up and Hudders went down. And the season finale at whatever it is they're calling their ground these days, is now even tastier. And I'll be there. It's like a home game for me.
