As I have posted the stats for Keith in terms of loss ratio and PPG I thought it would only be fair to do the same for Mark Robins. He had 41 games in his first season of which he lost sixteen which equates to 39.02%. In his second season he lost 18 out of 46 which equates to 39.1% so a slight decline giving an overall percentage of 39.08% - far better than Keith. Regarding PPG, he managed 53 in 41 games in his first season for a rate of 1.29 and 55 in 46 in his second for rate of 1.19. Again, there was a decline in his second season but overall his PPG is 1.25 which is far better than Keith. Now, we all like to think that MR's budget was a similar amount to GDP of China and Keith's was less than HT's pocket money, but MR's statistics are far more impressive for me. Admittedly the football was a bit dour under MR at times but he was able to grind out results, something which Keith is clearly unable to do. Also, even though it dunt really mean much in the grand scheme of things I also though MR was far more media savvy, fan friendly and came across as a genuine and personable bloke. * I know I said I was stopping posting but then I read a comment made by Ponty72 and thought **** it.
The interesting thing for me then is when you compare those stats to the vast majority of people preferring to watch Keith's teams. Which at the end of the day is what it all boils down to for me - entertainment. Not grinding out results etc. Disagree about being media savvy and he had nowhere near the fashion sense, either.
but Kieth is prepared to work within a budget,Robins was not so he jumped...he was not pushed.Kieth is man enough to stick by his principles, and wants to finish what he has begun, and thats ok by me.
In Hill's first season the attendance was almost 3,000 down on MR's first season so it looks like people are voting with their feet. Maybe they'd rather see a team that is difficult to beat than a team that plays nice football in patches then loses. Whether you like it or not points are more important than the performance.
We`ve had good performances from all managers since we returned and a lot of ***** from them as well. Nowt much to pick between em. Davey got us to Wembley though, just for SM that one.
there was a manager who was wanted out by the fans of a team, in his first few years it was not happening quick enough for that team's fans, they wanted that manager out. that team was Manchester United that manager was Alex Ferguson wonder if they want rid now.
I don't think so can say that the 3k loss was down to Hill. Far from it in my opinion. And not for me. Entertainment every time.
Re: but Kieth is prepared to work within a budget,Robins was not Both Robins and Hill came to the club on different understandings with regards to budget/promises. The club had to tighten the purse strings and that wasn`t what was promised to Robins. Cant see as there was any blame to attach to either club or Robins.
I agree that we have seen poor performances under all managers. I expect us to lose more than we win and to lose as many as we draw. I just think it's very worrying if we lose more than we win AND draw - as we are doing under Hill.
entertainment everytime, hmmmmm, not sure matey I like to see good football too, but for me its effort. If I am convinced that the player/s are trying to run through a Brick Wall for us then I am satisfied. If its also entertaining thne that a huge bonus. That why I like players like Martin Devaney, not the most gifted player but sweated blood for his team.Thats all I ask of the guys who play for Barnsley.
So is it all down to the cost? Has it more become more unaffordable for nigh on 25% of the fan base in the last two years? It might be about entertainment for you but it's a results business.
many are having to balance the home budget now matey many would still love to go, but theres a bit of a cash flow problem for a lot.I think thats had a huge impact on a lot of fans , and from a lot of clubs too.
It's got to be a mixture but I quite like the fact that we're trying to get results by doing things properly. Plenty of games I've come away these past 18 months thinking I've enjoyed watching us but we've lost. But we'll get there. I think it's a combination of cost, poor marketing, poor league positions for 5/6 years and the economic situation in Tarn.
Me not having a season ticket for the first time in 26 years is down to a combination of family situation (we've had a baby) and Keith Hill's dire anti-football between January and May. So that's 1/3000th explained.
