For anybody interested, Mark Robins and his staff (John Breckin,Steve Taylor,Nick Daws and Simon Tracy) came across excellent last night, really enjoyable evening, relaxed, funny informative banter. Robins came across as professional and determined... also quite witty. Non of his staff wanted to discuss the previous regime, but you could tell by how they word certain questions and what they didn't say.... they clearly were not impressed Main Points: 'surprised' there is no reserve team - this will be addressed as soon as possible... very 'surprised' that in the last international break the players were allowed 4/5 days off!!!! He said this would not happen this time (next week) the players will be working on fitness and pattern play. Robins said this club has massive potential everything is in place and we deserve at the very least championship football - asked about his ambition - managing Barnsley Football Club in the Premiership. Breckin said he never hesitated about comming to Barnsley when Robins asked him, he says he's best mates with Ronnie Moore and was his best man at his wedding this summer, but coming here was an easy choice. Steve Taylor - shy guy - but said there was a lot more potential in the fitness of the players and they will increase fitness levels by 10 - 20% - and they are starting to show that eg. closing players down as against WBA......... basically he wasn't impressed with their fitness when he arrived. Nick Daws came across well and one wife said he was like a good looking Gary Lineker?!?!?! Tracy got a bit of stick for his Sheff Utd connections but all good banter Excellent performance by the whole group and an enjoyable evening ....... food was a bit naff tho
Every time a new management team comes in they always say the players are not fit enough. I was shocked that Davey had given the players 5 Days off in International week the season had bearly started.
yep agreed. Was a good night. Thought they all spoke very well but didnt give much away. Ambitious people though. Came away impressed. Have to say though, 23 quid for sausage and mash was abit much. Was quite nice though. Oh, and i didnt have to pay due to being a guest of a company!
RE: What was on the menu? Huge Yorkshire Pud Cunberland Sausage Mash Thick onion gravy ...... sounds good doesn't it - it wasn't
RE: What was on the menu? Sounds a bit steep for 23 quid, but then again it's only £2 less than a Man U ticket I suppose part of the payment is for the evening entertainment and not just for the snap. Once had a pre match fish and chips meal for £11.50. At half time the same fish and chips were served for £6.50.
RE: What was on the menu? Half the money was for the post nose bag entertainment - I assume Money well spent and I'll go again - can't endorse it more then that
