I was pretty pleased with this signing, (based on nothing other than what people North of the border have written). I haven't made it to any pre season games. What can I expect? Does he look any good?

Works hard, doesn't waste any balls and I think links midfield to attack well. Doesn't stand out though as he does simple things right and has t had the opportunity to shine yet.

Seen him twice and was rather underwhelmed myself. But willing to give the lad a chance.

For a striker or a winger/midfielder who wants to be a striker he doesn't get in the areas of shooting/goal opportunities but as Icer said, he doesn't give it away, keeps it simple, i wouldn't say hes skillful but he seems he can take a man or two on to create space, i like the look of him.

Think he'll start off slow but improve as the season goes on.

    Definitely got something.

He's just being honest. He wasn't personal or overly negative. It's a football forum. What do you expect?

In your 691 comments on BBS(inc the above) you saw fit to criticise my comment (which was honest and not overboard, personal, over critical etc) then I'm guessing you don't read a lot of this board. Otherwise your 690odd would be 690million and odd.

Johnson has started playing him through the middle rather than out wide - that's where hes been played previously. Like Redarmychris has said, he will more than likely be a slow burner. If he gets an early goal then I'm sure he will go from strength to strength. His size and work rate will be a bonus and this will allow Winnall to play on the last man.

He seemed to resemble Kevin Nolan to me. Although I'm not sure if that's from his playing style or the way he looked.

Dunt matter what you all think. I still think he sounds like a firm of solicitors.

Apologies for any offence. I just thought it was an odd choice of words. I must confess that I don't read all your posts but I'm sure you only make constructive comments.

I think he will be an important piece of our Jigsaw. We now have a mix of creative midfielders and holding players. sam will run the channels and try to get in behind. Watkins offers something different that does a job to help glue it together. He drops into the slot between midfield and attack that then allows full backs and midfield to get forward safely. By the way this is how Middlesborough turned us over. I noticed he worked his own half well when needed to help defend. But also he has a goal or two in him. So far so good for me and if we see him as part of the jigsaw rather than a flair, stand out striker then we will be ok. I like him and he offers something we need.

I must be in the minority but I think he looked pretty poor at Huddersfield. Looked awkward on the ball and offered no threat in front of goal. Suppose we'll see how he gets on throughout the season but much prefer Wilkinson from what I've seen.

Saw him play quit a bit for ICT on TV last season an was impressed. I think he will play a slightly different role for us though and. Drop behind Sam.i think he will be a player who won't stand out but if you watch everything he does will recognise his hold up, vision and how he brings midfield and wide players in, just by keeping possession and dictating tempo. By no means our marquee player but as I said he is a link in the chain. I don't really know how he will do in reality but I hope he does well and time will tell how well it works for him and us. Right now I'm optimistic and think Wilkinson to start off will be his replacement from the bench.
