Has missed more chances from 4 yards out in 4 months than ever professional Barnsley player I've ever seen.

I've yet to be convinced by him. I don't know if we paid good money out for him but Lee seems heavily committed to starting him in nearly every game. He's yet another who looks brilliant on videos of Scottish league action (see O'Brien, Hemmings) but look like they've been sent by Bernard Matthews when they come down here.

I thought he was a winger at his last club, why we sticking him up front when we have better

I think he's a decent option out wide - quick, direct & gets up and down. But he doesn't look like a finisher - can think of chances at Millwall, S****horpe & now Oldham he should've buried.

He's seems to struggle in the POMO does Marley.

He's definitely a winger and his assists from the right this season back that up.

The being said he rarely delivery's a ball from deep and he doesn't often cross for the strikers to head. A lot of his assists are from the byline. I dont know if this is tactics or how Marley prefers to play but he only has to look at Hammill to see how a winger should mix up his crosses.

Yeah but Winnall's a left back really.

I'd still rather play Winnall up top in a two

He looks like a decent enough player to me but I don't know what position suits him. He's not big enough or strong enough to play the target man role if he's up front. He hasn't the predators instinct, like Winnall, to put away the chances that fall to him in the box. He might look like a half decent winger when you haven't seen a good one in a Barnsley shirt for ******* years, but we've got Adam Hammill now, and after seeing him I can only conclude that Marley Watkins isn't a winger.

He'd probably do well playing behind a front 2. His best goal for us (and only league goal) was when he ran from deep, beating the offside trap, and coolly slotted it in to the corner of the net. The easy chances when he's stood in the box he tends to miss. Trouble is, we're playing 4-4-2 now and we don't have anyone in that position.

Agree with that - seeing the Oldham highlights of Hammill makes me get a bit aroused, a winger actually taking other players on, being direct & looking a threat. Far, far too good for us.

I don't think he'd be any good behind a front 2 - I don't think he's got the touch to play there like say Ryan Williams has.

Basically you've just convinced me he's not a footballer.

He was converted to a striker by Inverness Caley after a striker was injured and scored a bundle for them.

We could play him on the wing and then play Winnall and or Jackson up front.

But that would mean dropping one or both of our loan young uns.

Agree completely with this. I've only seen the highlights from Oldham but he's involved in all of our attacking play. We need to get him on a contract until the end of the season as soon as possible but I won't hold my breath.

The club need to be getting Hammill on a long term contract now.

But no doubt he'll be off in Jan and we'll be proper ****** without him.

Chris Dagnall had exactly the same 'skill' - almost getting on the end of loads of stuff, but rarely getting on the end of owt. I put it down to just not having the instinct that proper strikers have.

Watkins = Dagnall but with a bit less work rate.
