Conan I don't know you and I'm sure you'r a nice guy but you need to chill regarding your football.Hill has said he is still targeting players with Championship experience but day after day you still question this. Why not wait and see what happens then you can praise or slaughter the manager. And as for attacking the club for giving a non league player a trial come on clubs do this 7 days a week all over the country, its no big deal.If he's good enough he may sign for us or Sheff Wed or Sheff Utd if not he'll go back to enjoying his non league status.
Wait and see? Last season finished on 28th April and our first competitive match is in eight days time. We have one brought decent signing in and three risky ones but have failed to address some of the main problems. We still have all the players who blatantly weren't good enough last season yet people seem t think they will be this time around. God alone knows why. Regarding this lad from Stocksbridge, he was at Rochdale under Pep and they ended up releasing him. Then he went to the Conference North and was released from there so he's in the Unibond. I will guarantee without a shadow of a doubt he is not good enough for the Championship so why bother giving him a trial?
so if your released it makes you a bad player? someone better tell Jordi Alba of barcelona Juan Mata was let go by Madrid. A bit closer to Barnsley Jacob butterfield was released by manchester united at 15 and so was Mr Vaz Te at a number of clubs includeing Scottish club Hibs.
No he's not though is he? We aren't a fitness camp for local league players to get fitter - he's on trial because he played well against us, nothing more or less than that
What the f.uck are you blathering on about now? Seriously. This kid was released by HALIFAX TOWN who are four levels below us.
oh dear is keefy at it again with lower league rubbish. You do realise he is probably preparing us for the said lower leagues..... next season probably hth
I get it now, but I cant understand why people are getting upset because were giving someone a chance to impress on trial, we've had quite alot of players over the years on trial who havent been offered a contract. I just think it's gives them a reason to moan which they love to do!!
If you want "premiership players", you know by now it goes to the wire at the end of the transfer window on 31st August. Players don't know if they are in the squad of 25 yet, once they know, thats when we can start to get these people on board. And two of our most instrumental players in the promotion year were unknowns from Eastwood Town and Winsford. Martin Bullock and Darren Sheridan. But don't let that stop you finding fault with everything.
I can see both sides of the argument here. Ok, it's a trial, it doesn't cost us owt so we've nowt to lose by it, BUT, the lad plays for Stocksbridge and has been released by Rochdale and Halifax, so it doesn't bode well for him stepping up to Championship level overnight and it's not what the fans want to see from the Manager a week before our first proper game
Because we are desperate for players, so when we hear we have someone on trial we cross our fingers and pray that Pep has had some kind of epiphany and that Don and Pat have shown a bit of ambition.....then you find out it's a lad who couldn't cut it at Rochdale or Halifax and is now at Stocksbridge.
We've also got 3 other players on trial, one being a very experienced championship defender, isnt that we want?
It is possible to find the odd 'gem' in non-league but I think you are pushing it a bit with the 'two of our most instrumental players in the promotion year' bit ........ that's not how I remember them, in fact there is lots who would come above them in the pecking order on that list
Sheridan was pivotal in the way we kept the ball and how Redfearn was able to drive from midfield. And the rotation of Bullock and Marcelle with that injection of pace and trickery was a major threat to teams.
