REDS new boy Martin Devaney spoke exclusively to the Official Website after penning a two-year deal at Oakwell. He said: "It was a bit of a surprise to leave Watford so soon because I had enjoyed most things down there. I spoke to Adrian Boothroyd earlier in the week and he told me that Barnsley were very interested so he gave me the choice what I wanted to do. "Adrian told me that I could stay with Watford if I wanted to or I could come up to South Yorkshire and see what Barnsley had to offer. I took that option and was immediately impressed by everything here. "I started off at Coventry as a YT before having a couple of years as a pro. I left there in 1999 and had five great years with Cheltenham. In the summer I reaped the rewards of my hard work by getting a move to Watford and it was that which ultimately brought me to Oakwell. "The facilities here at Barnsley are out of this world. I met Andy Ritchie this morning and he is a bubbly character who really sold what he wants to achieve here. The training facilities and stadium are first class and I cannot wait to get started".
