might be about to put the mockers on him here, but he's been back to his best the last few games. In terms of work rate and commitment, he led by example last night, really got stuck into the lads down their left, who both went off! Noticeable that he's taking some of the set pieces now as well.

But still hasn't beaten the first man with a cross all season.

Agreed with most of that though. Got stuck inand worked hard. But so did everyone else. I can pretty much guarentee that had it been Devaney crossing for the 3rd goal and not Howard, it wouldn't have got over that defenders head.

"But still hasn't beaten the first man with a cross all season"

Tell that to Ferenczy who nodded in a Devaney cross at Southampton.

    I thought it was Devaney

have to admit I havent seen the game replayed, and it was up the other end, but I did think at the time it was Disco.

Back to the original point though, his work rate and link up with the front 2 was top notch, and when we're needing to hold the ball and run down the clock, he's the best there is at making the full back jump in or give away fouls/throw ins. I know there's a contract on the table, and I certainly think he's earnt it.

Post: just watched it, and it was Togwell, but check out the ball from Devaney to put him clear!

    Yes, it was.

I saw it with my own eyes and everything. I'd have been rubbing my eyes had it been Devaney making sure he had indeed beaten the first man.

    I agree

He needs to practise his crossing, he needs to get crosses past the first defender more. I also think he needs to work on getting the cross in earlier, instead of always trying to go around the man one more time.

How many players he injured in the last few games now!!??

Only thing that annoys me is the usual tricks he attempts. Lets drop them Disco, and just concentrate on getting the ball into the box.

Time and a place for the tricks

but it seems the Barnsley public are only happy if they're being entertained, dont mind a few step overs when we're 3 nil up but I'd still take 5 dour 1 nil wins over the next 12 games. I really hope we dont have to go to West Brom on the last day and get something. Start saving your ticket stubs folks.....

Hopefully the Baggies will have either secured promotion or at least got a play off spot by then.

If they'e got nothing to play for you would hope we could get a result. May bring back happy memories of the opening day in the promotion season.
