Good morning,

We find ourselves in the middle of a very busy period with lots of games against teams above us in the league and with lots of injuries and disciplinary problems.

On the injury front there have been no gaps for any rest for players that are playing with knocks. There has been little time for me to actually coach the team to play it has been more a question of just getting them out there with very little preparation. Some of the players have been playing well short of full match fitness and their attitudes have been commendable.

We have picked up far too many petty yellow cards - I will be looking at this much closer and looking at every yellow card that we have got but quite clearly this area needs to be improved. Obviously we don't want to take away the competitive edge but dissent has to be cut out and it will be. Without going overboard some of the yellow cards have been harsh to say the least and on Saturday, without a shadow of a doubt, our player was fouled in their box, which resulted in our player getting a yellow card. Sadly there is no room for appeal.

Tomorrow we travel up to Barnsley to play against a team two divisions higher than us for yet another, what everybody calls, big game. I will put out the best team I can bearing in mind the injury situation that I am currently faced with. For obvious reasons I will not disclose who is injured and what those injuries are.

I had a fantastic response to the position of Training Ground Manager, however this has been put on hold for the time being as ten days ago out training ground was broken into again. It was particularly upsetting, frustrating and annoying and we have since employed a security firm to look after the training ground. It was very unsettling for everybody but the Chairman has acted swiftly and decisively to ensure that we can all go to work without being in fear of being robbed. This move does not mean that supporters are not welcome and our training ground will remain open to anybody wishing to drop in.

Lastly, I must mention the fantastic, enthusiastic support that we have had recently. I am well aware of how much it costs supporting your team - especially with three away games in a week. The support, even though you have been out-numbered, has been awesome, even in defeat. It seems quite clear that your enthusiasm filters through to the players and staff and it is very much appreciated by all of us. Don't worry about the abuse that I get - I believe that is a good sign and, believe it or not, I quite enjoy it!

We must now prepare for this next competition before we face two home games with everything to play for. I am looking forward to getting a place in the third round and six points to go to our total and our first target of 51 points to ensure we stay up.

    Best wishes,

    Martin.
