So says the Everton manager as he hands him a FIVE YEAR deal. How much did we sell him for again? I hope there are some juicy clauses in there.
Never struck me as being in the same class as Stones but plenty of potential. Could be a nice windfall waiting for us.
Re: Never struck me as being in the same class as Stones Our Academy, if managed right, could be the gift that keeps on giving for ever more. So long as we bring these lads on in the right way and then get the right money for them when they leave then it has done its job. I will never complain about us being a selling club, because that is how we stay in business. It's galling when the top talent is nurtured and then leaves, but that is how it has to be. Any young player will look at our development record and automatically say "Give me some of that!" Win, win....
Re: Never struck me as being in the same class as Stones Like you say, the success of the lads recently will help us attract the best youngsters in the area as we're building a reputation and they'll want to emulate Stones etc rather than Harry Maguire. Also, it's not all galling from a fans perspective, as I take pride in watching local lads who progress from our academy and make the first team go on to become top Premier League players and internationals.
Re: Never struck me as being in the same class as Stones I agree it's fantastic. I only wish there was a mechanism that ensured they contribute within our own first team before they move on though. If Stones/Holgate had had another year strengthening our first team - even if Everton had done an early deal to take them after that. Not clever enough to figure out how it would work though - any suggestions?
Re: Never struck me as being in the same class as Stones Sale then immediate loan back would be a good solution. That's what MK Dons did when Dele Alli went to Spurs
Re: Never struck me as being in the same class as Stones But Harry Maguire also came through our academy, he left when we went into administration.
