Quote: "Steele likened the win over Brighton to a victory against Watford days after Barnsley lost to Cardiff in the FA Cup Semi Final. In that match, Watford took the lead at Oakwell but Miguel Mostto levelled, the Stephen Foster scored the winner." WRONG! Luke was referring to the away league game at Vicarage Road on the Tuesday night following Wembley. Which we won 3-0 with Odejayi scoring twice. I was there, it was the night of the "FCK THE CUP, WE'RE STAYING UP!" chant which I was waiting for on Tuesday! Any chance we can have some actual Reds fans writing about the club, or at least writers who can accurately carry out remedial research? BRING BACK ANDREW LODGE!!!
The infamous 'Kayode got two' game I recall? Then we went up and beat Preston at the weekend laiking 352 and Diego looking a laiker. I don't know why I remember this **** and forget the missus' s birthday.
Re: Did Matt Murray write that ? Doug O'Kane. I don't like to criticise, but it is so basic. You shouldn't even have to look it up. And why does Ricardo Gardner make the headlines. To me that warrants not more than a footnote to the weeks events. Is it because he is someone the editor has actually heard of. Who is trying to inform who here? The readers are actually more knowledgable than the people paid to report the news. The quality of journalism at the Chronicle really is poor. There doesn't appear to be any pride in what can be a very admirable profession. Is this really the best we can do?
Re: Did Matt Murray write that ? Dunno mate, but the revenge job on Hill after he left was unnecessary imho. Allied to the tripe on Twitter and it looks to my untrained journalistic eye like it's all about self promotion and looking after their mates rather than proper reporting. Just my opinion like.
Re: Did Matt Murray write that ? Its miles better now than when Lodgie did it. All you got then was column after column of repeat material.
Re: Did Matt Murray write that ? Lodgie was pretty much a one man operation though. Nowadays the news feed is much wider and that leads to a broader content. It was a bit repetitive, but Lodgie would never have made a headline feature of Ricardo Gardner being on trial. It would have been a footer at the bottom of the main news feature, because until he signs it's of little interest.
Re: Did Matt Murray write that ? disagree. I think that having an experienced left winger/full back on trial after weve been looking for one for so long is big news. Radio sheffield focused on it too. Id also like to take credit for us getting him in days after I suggested it
Re: Did Matt Murray write that ? If and when he signs it will be news-worthy, until then it is simply a statement.
Re: Did Matt Murray write that ? The piece on Keith hill that was written after he left about sums it up for me. The chronicle is a vehicle to report the news, not a mouthpiece for personal opinions swayed by working relations.
