Bloody hell. Terrorists attempting to blow up several flights between the UK and USA in midflight with catastrophic loss of life. At 2am MI5 swooped and arrested several people involved in the plot. All UK Airports on 'CRITICAL' alert and no hand luggage allowed on any aircraft on any flight. Heathrow - all check in desks closed and people being sent home. All airports in chaos apparently.
Hardly surprising. It is what Muslims are good at, taking needless life. Don't concentrate on those causing you harm, just kill anyone else.
My kids are in Florida with their Mother and due to fly back this week. Then we are due to fly out to Spain next week.
I don't really care about Florida or Spain. I just want them to be home.
Quite nerve wracking sitting here not being able to do anything

Didn't really enjoy tube this morning after hearing about that on the news... Well done to the government, police and the secret service though, seems they've foiled a big one.
Just goes to show they do a very good job, despite what some people say.

Reading the report It does say that it is thought the police do not believe that any attack is imminent but that this is just in case there is a "sub-plot". I reckon by the weekend security will be getting back to normal.
RE: Didn't really enyoy tube this morning after hearing about that on the news... Apparently they have been tracking this group for several months and rounded them up this morning at 2am. Airport security is on critical and this critical level is now being extended to Transport in and around London. Watch yersen lovie
They used the Tanks last time , I am suprised they haven't got the Airforce buzzing the Airports this time.
It will be interesting to see what happens Hopefully, no loss of life but this will test the relevant authorities to the limit.
Rubbish , so when we all get barcoded and have tracking devices fitted you will be more than happy with that.
Do you feel safer after todays announcement?

When they "prevent" attacks they are doing their job correctly. Thus I am not that interested.
However its when the fail to do their job correctly that I get concerned.

RE: When they "prevent" attacks they are doing their job correctly. Do you think they should err on the side of caution?
How Am I going to get through a 13 hour flight Without my hand luggage containing 2 books Creative Zen and Headphones Travel Pillow Eyeshades DVT Socks Contact lenses and solutions Suduko book and pencil Face cream Deodorant Face wipes and flannel Impulse spray Mini DVD Camera Liquid soap Mini Fan Sunglasses Spare underwear Mini DVD tape I've just been and had a look in my bag and these things are in already and I haven't even started filling it properly yet! If it means being safe so be it, but lol, I need my hand luggage with me !
RE: Rubbish , You always feel unsafe after such an announcement. But it doesn't mean that we're all going to be monitored 24/7 like you seem to be saying.
I presume you are referring to identity cards?

Agree Harrow Tyke All travellers will feel unnerved after the announcement this morning. It's certainly put the wind up me and my 13 hour imminent flight. Plus where I am travelling to, a suicide bomber blew himself and several others up a couple of days ago. We have already been informed that the country has declared a state of emergency. Lovely! and all I ever wanted to do was laze about in my beloved Crete with my books as I do every summer. I must be mad opting for this instead.
Well done to the security services for foiling this, and to those passengers I've seen on news this morning who are taking the delays well and not complaining. Glad I'm not flying in the next few days - not because of the threat but because of the delays etc
