I've got relatives who are big Bury fans was meant to be going over this morning. They told me not to bother as it'll almost certainly be off.
It was always going to be postponed. All the North West games are, and I expect Bradford's to follow suit, it's ******* torrential here as it has been for at least 36 hours. There's public transport issues too.
Without sounding too thick where does Dubai get their water from? I watch on National Geographic channel Ultimate Airport Dubai and on one episode the roof flooded and the narator mentioned you get seven days of rain a year. Yet on a couple of episodes it showed new firemen being trained up and they used loads of water, but you never hear of a water shortage over there. Been raining all over. Cricket ruined in Durban and even the MCG boxing day test started half hour later due to Melbourne rain.
It's off. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Game postponed due to flooding around the stadium <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/buryfc?src=hash">#buryfc</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/bfc_official">@bfc_official</a></p>— Bury Football Club (@buryfcofficial) <a href="https://twitter.com/buryfcofficial/status/680692899839905792">December 26, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
The main source of tap water is from desalination plants, and other than bottled water, this is the drinking supply. Irrigation and fire water will be from reclaimed water from drains and such like. There are a couple of fresh water springs near the mountains also. So water is not that much of a problem, but desalination plants consume energy and don't do a lot for the planet.
Cheers for that. Always made me wonder why you have plenty of water in the desert and we get water shortages here when it rains so much.
